i'm gonna be sending my xbox in for repairs soon can anyone tell me will i get MY console back? i purchased a warrenty from nebraska furniture mart and according to those **** it doesn't start until microsoft's warrenty ends meaning they wont do s*** to help a longtime customer who paid 40 bucks for a 2 year warrenty(one they have since lost) but anyway my serial number is registered to that warrenty.. what would i do if microsoft doesn't send me back my original console? i've heard many reports of people who got back someone elses and retailers that wouldn't exchange because the serial didn't match :( ps3 is looking better every minute..

That sounds like a great question for Microsoft customer service....I've had my share of warranty issues......My $229.00 DLP warranty lets me stare at a dead TV for a MONTH.....My paperwork says it will be fixed in 7-10 DAYS! I wouldn't expect a lot of generous customer service through all of your ordeal, but I would nicely inform them that you have a extended warranty that is tied to the specific serial number of your unit...I bet what they are doing is getting the broken unit, then sending out a refurbished unit to help with the turn-around time...I would keep records of the whole process, and request a letter from Microsoft stating that you turned in serial number _____ and received serial number _____ in exchange under their warranty...Your extended warranty should still be honored this way, or they should at least off you the chance to buy another extended warranty....

Mine is on the way back from MS, repair time is very fast, so I am speculating that it came from the refurb stack. I'll post if it's my console or someone else's.
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

Time it takes for the coffin to arrive + time for coffin to ship to MS + about 2-3 hours for them to remove yours from the coffin and replace it with a repaired console + time for console to ship from MS to you = total wait.

    Call MS asap.

nope you won't get your same console back, I had my 360 die on me and I sent to xbox and they mail u another refurbished one back, as far as the serial number thing I would contact where you got it and ask them if they would honor the warranty, if not I would call microsoft and complain.

The one we sent back was returned in ....... oh, about 2 weeks. It was the same exact unit we sent in.

We can't gripe about their repair service (so far) but a LOT of folks have had reason to complain.

    I guess it's a crap shoot. Good luck !

FILTHY consoles, agreed. but the streaming filth won't affect the xbox. not even the hard drive. (which is removed along with faceplate before shipping to m$)

I actually got back a refurb (I think) unit which looks brand new. It was build in 08/06, and mine was 10/05.

From what I read, MS recycled all xx/05 production batch by swapping them with xx/06. Of course, not proactively, but through this repair service program, as those coming to the McAllen TX's XBOX Cemetery compound.

When mine went bad I just took it back to Sam's minus HD. They took their HD out of a brand new box that replaced mine and took back my broken, ring of death, blanked blank broken one.

lol what i meant about the streaming thing is some people just get... "happy" and the console ends up like a motel 6 room if you know what i mean..
