Rm6000

Yesterday a friend of mine who lives in a small apartment took the plunge (at my advice) and bought a RM6000 package for 299 at CC, which I thought wasn't too bad. He lives in a small apartment so space is a premium. Originally he was looking at some POS RCA HTIB and I told him, eff that, I'm not helping him with that Mickey Mouse ****.....Anyway, he bought that and a Panasonic receiver ( I would have spent the extra 100 bucks and got the entry level Onkyo, but it's not my money).....

Anyway, I hooked it all up for him, except I'm leaving him to his own devices on where he wants to finally position his rears....I gotta admit, I'm more impressed by the sub/sat system then I thought I would be. Even with less then optimal positioning, once I got the adjustments on the sub down....I was really pretty impressed! Shoot, if you got a small room and are looking for a cheap HT setup, the RM6000 for 299, ain't a bad deal.

Man, I should get some commision or something, maybe a discount on a pair of LSi9's or something, this is the THIRD Polk setup I've helped folks pick out in the last 2 months.

Well, considering what he had (nothing) and his financial situation....I'd consider it a plunge.

    Good Job TroyD,

That's what you were supposed to do especially since you consider the guy a friend of yours. The commission you receive is the smile on the faces of the people you help. Now it seems, you
have a nack for sales. If you want, and have the time, consider a
part time job at a local Audio-Video store. You can guide the world to POLK and get paid too.

Yeah, it's pretty cool to get someone into enjoying this hobby to be honest. When you see someone really enjoy thier system, that's really cool and gives you a good sense of perspective.

You know, I wouldn't mind a part time job in a hifi shop but the two main problems with that are time, Uncle Sam and the lovely Wendi take up a great deal of that AND the fact that I don't consider myself knowledgeable enough to work in a real hifi shop.....the employee discount would REALLY get me in trouble as well

I advertise in my local paper for HT installs. I might do one a week. I have alot of fun watching people "getting" HT for the first time. I have also got people into my hobbie and they have too much pride to let me help. So they buy crappy equipment for way to much and when I check it out after they have it all set up for a couple months - *they are not even running digital cable - no DD*

Hey Troy, that's funny -- I got a friend, stuck in an apartment, into DVD by showing her how easy it was to set up a tiny home theater (she too got the RM6000, it's so cute!). Now, she's rockin'! And when the people downstairs play their piano too loud, she puts on TWISTER and shakes their pictures off their walls! With the RM6000, no less! I think it's a great little system.

I'm actually contemplating picking up an RM6000 for my parents for Christmas, I think they would dig it......
