lite0040.gif !!!SPOILER ALERT!!! lite0040.gif

Just got back from seeing this and it was great!!

The action was outstanding and for the most part they stuck to the comic's story. Was also glad to see Pete finally stop being pushed around and start kicking some ****! LOL

The only things I didnt care much for was that stupid dancing bit they tried. It was bad enough with him walking down the street like Travolta but WTF was all that in the bar?!?!

Also didnt like the way they did the Sandman. I mean he was not only indestructible but virtually invincible! I dont remember much about him in the comics but that seemed like a little much to me.

Although it worked in the story, it was sad by the end with Harry dying and MJ being all down and this big "space" between her and Peter.

My biggest **** tho was the whole black suit. They ran with that in the comics for a loooong time and it worked. I think they shouldve let him find it and then use it thruout the entire movie. That way the next one couldve dealt with him getting rid of it and Brock finding it. Venom is the baddest bad guy ever and it sucked that they only gave him 10 minutes in the movie. Why did they have to kill him off like that? So the coolest, most awesome bad guy ever is gone forever. That sucks.

I rate this one below the other 2 because I think they blew it with the symbiot and Venom which ran in the comics for years, yet they whittle them down to a few minutes.

Still and excellent movie tho but because of the aforementioned ****, I give it 7 out of 10.

Yeah man, those are my gripes.

The dancing thing to make MJ jealous, simply stupid!

    Venom was totally wasted! WTF!!!!

The backstory of Sandman wanting to save his daughter, another stupid thing. It's hard to think of him as a total badass when you have something like that. Just make him a cold blooded killer who got turned into sandman, then his rampage would be believable. Of course, I don't know the entire backstory of him in the comics. Is that his story in the comics, saving his daughter?

I would have liked to see Pete wear the black suit to school and get back at those guys that were shooting spitballs at him.

Like I said, good popcorn fun, but not great.

Anyone else notice the small continuity issues between scenes? I seem to always notice these, like when Peter talks to Aunt May and she gives him the ring, in one scene there is a cake on the table and in another cookies. Or near the end I think Venom pulls of Spiderman's mask and throws him down to the street, in one scene you see him on the ground no mask, and a second or two later same location with a mask.

The main thing I didn't like is the length, many unnecessary scenes like Peter dancing down the street. They already showed his personality change so the scene just felt superfluous.

I also think they should have explained Venom more, like how did he get Spiderman's powers, or why did he change Brock's physical appearance but not Peters? I have theories but would have liked to see it explained a little better.

Sam Raimi could go on with 10 more Spidey movies and run the whole Venom thing to the ground but I think he did well tieing it to one movie. Don't forget there's die-hard Spidey fans and there's the rest of the world who doesn't need to know every detailed history from the comics.

Overall I thought it was excellant. A little too long but still done well.

Agreed about the Spidey mask. Must be a longer cut from the movie somewhere.

Anyone else laugh when Harry's butler said "He loved his father !?" I wouldn't have gotten it the first time but there were a lot of kids who did laugh that one off. Not to mention Parker crying at the bridge.

I agree that the average Joe Sixpack movie goer doesnt care about all the intimate details of Venom, but they still wouldve enjoyed seeing more of him.

They couldve easily left Spidey in the symbiot suit for the whole movie, made the Sandman a little less invincible and not 500 feet tall, then have the conflict between Harry and then the Sandman.

Then the next movie you get to see the symbiot changing Peter's personality and him getting rid of the suit and Brock finding it and then devoting the whole Spide 4 to Venom. I guarantee you, if you got to see more of him, you wouldve enjoyed it.

In the comics there is another Venom like bad dude called Carnage. Looks like Venom but it red.

But Venom is still the baddest comic character ever! Such a freaking waste!

I almost fell asleep about 2/3 of the way through the movie. Far too much wasted time on the whole MJ love story. Just get to the action already.

Well the comics had a lot of MJ story line in them. Spiderman is a very dark comic series. Much darker than Batman and darker than anything I think Sam Raimi can pull off actually.

Well I liked it I agree they should've had more of Venom. The Travolta walk was funny, shows a different side to Tobey. If your a big Spiderman fan I agree with the concerns. However it's still a lot better than Superman. I'm a huge Superman fan, and that movie was a huge dissappointment. If you watch Spiderman with expectations of any other opening weekend movie it's still pretty entertaining.

Thats funny! I was just thinking about this today. Working out a way to how Venom couldve lived. Maybe when the symbiot bonded with Brock it was able to jump clear of the explosion or something like that.

I REALLY hope its Venom theyre bringing back. He is way too awesome a bad guy to be relegated to simply the third of a movie like an afterthought.

He was so bad **** that he spawned his own comic book line (of which I happen to have the 1st, 2nd and 6th issues of) in which he became kind of a deranged good guy. He was obsessed with "protecting innocents" but that meant by killing bad guys.

I guess I'm in the minority here. I thoroughly enjoyed it and thought it was much better than the first 2....
