Need more optical audio inputs

I have a Denon AVR-1706, and I'm using both my optical inputs, and one coax digital audio input. Unfortuntately, most of my devices have optical out and not coax.

Anyway, lets say I want to add capability for more optical inputs....such as perhaps a source switcher? I don't have it in my budget just yet to upgrade to a new AVR....

What would you do?

These can be "daisy chained" for more outputs, right? Just curious...

I used to use one when I ran out of inputs on my old Onkyo. There is no remote for sure. You just 'dial' it to the correct optical hook up for whatever it is you are doing.

    Well, thanks for the link.

I was hoping to find something with a remote so I can program my Logitech Harmony...

I guess I need to look strongly at a new Denon.

Anyone know of one that has a remote? I've been searching all over google/fry's/newegg and either I'm blind or its just hard to find. Would it be better to just upgrade AVR? I've found some switches that are $900, so in that case it would be. :-/

The problem with optical is that you either have:
1)A mechanical switch (where a short piece of fiber optic cable is bent to align with a given input) or
2)A decoder, a switch, then a encoder (NOT cheap)

I suppose you could have a motor-driven mechanical one w/ a remote, but I've never seen one.

Oh, perhaps thats why I'm running into the issues I'm having...

Well darn, what a reason to look for a new AVR. :)
