Wow, looking very nice. Quite a collection of next gen DVDs, too! How come you have two HD-DVD players?

Thanks! My xbox360 Add-On is up for sale. I just recently got the HD-A20. I saw that you had a Sunfire, How did you like it. Just asking because my job just started carrying Sunfire and I was thinking about going with them as my amp.

    Gotcha.

I really liked the Sunfire. The size/price/performance really can't be matched, IMO. It would definitely add some life to your system. I'm actually kind of regretting selling it in the first place.

Nice setup! Two suggestions if you don't mind, but I think you may only be able to implement one of them.

First - try aiming the center channel directly at the listener, as pictured it looks like it might be going over the listener's head, unless your sitting position is WAY back. You might like how it sounds.

Next - the rears are very, very close to the listener. With no option to move them further outboard, perhaps upward some and aim them down?

Setup looks sweet! Why do you still have the regular upconverting player (Samsung HD850 or whatever)?

Besides a better sub and an amp for your 12s, I think you're setup is nearly optimal for gaming and movies. Congrats! Pics look beautiful.

The front stage is very clean, looks great.

The rears are way to close. In a setup like that where you have the listening position on the back wall, I'd fish the wire if possible, and mount your F/X speakers on the ceiling, firing down.

    Cheers,
    Russ

sweet looking set up.. very clean lines and pleasing to the eye...

as already suggested.. raise those rear FX speakers a good 4 more feet up on the wall.. it makes a big difference on the rear surround sound. Otherwise... you're good to go. :)

Great setup. Another suggestion is to pull your 12's forward a few inches, if possible. In their current position, the sound may be a bit constrained by the AV rack.

Thanks for all your input guys. 1st off I wish i could move the rears up a little but this is a rent house and feeding wires in the wall and so fourth is to much trouble since we will be building our home next year w/ a dedicated theater. 2nd my sub is a CV 15", I am new to the HT world so I was thinking about getting 2 Velodyne DPS12's and just leave one in the box until i get the bigger room. It just seems to me that my Cerwin is very muddy and cannot hit acuratly. Is this normal for this sub. By the way it's almost 10 years old but it was just unboxed last year. Also the reason why I am going Velodyne is because I can get 2 DPS12's for $211 a piece new. My xbox is hooked up through components. Samsung Up-Convert is also for-sale.

If you can't move them up, I would move them to the sides. In 5.1 that's where they should be anyways.

Are the monster power units any good? I know monster used to get flamed by most audiophiles, but I have noticed that many people now, including audiophiles, have monster power units.

I 2nd whoever said upgrade the sub, you want tight controlled bass to match well with the polks, and a big slow 15" cerwin vega is not going to cut it.

I would put them on the sides but the back right wall is a hallway with a closet and there is not much room above the closet door. About Monster....I hate Monster products just because they are drasticly overpriced. The only reason I have the 3600 and the AVS2000 is because I work @ CCity. I got the AVS2000 for $450 and the 3600 for $100. Both together would have been over $2000. I also like there banana clips but again I work @ CCity. If I didn't work there I probably would have gone Signal/Monoprice. Thanks for all your comments guys!

The general concept of Power conditioners was discussed in a thread recently. Basically, you might notice a very slight improvement in audio, and maybe even more noticeable improvement in video playback.

I added a HTS 5100 signature series to my rig. At $700+ retail, I would've just stuck with my $10 power strip. But, for used prices and what you can find on ebay these days, I think it's worth getting some type of power conditioner. Maybe it doesn't do anything, but for $100 - $200, it's not that much money and there are LOTS of options. Monster is just the widest, most prevalent, that's why you see it on a lot of sigs. Panamax, Furman, etc. are all highly regarded but harder to find and pricier than a used/clearance Monster just based on supply and demand.

My PowerCenter 5100 SS bring me: piece of mind, helpful cable management, and a very good looking/cool addition to my rack. All realistic / quantifiable advantages, no "helps clean up dirty electricity" mumbo-jumbo.

There is one monster power that does look pretty cool... it has analog meters.

I thought about getting a panamax, but right now I use a good filtering power strip, no "reserve power" stuff, just noise filtering.

Carlos, I'll have to dig around - I know I've seen some in the showcase, and linked it to a thread before.

Matter of fact, I think Ron-P had some F/X ceiling mounted a couple years ago.
