Will an Onkyo TX-SR604 Hold Me Over...?

Just curious if anyone here has this or has heard it. Right now I dont have anything and I am going to wait to spend any BIG money until 2008 or so. I have an Earthquake amp to use for the main 5 channels and I will use the receiver's amp for the rear 2. It looks to pass multichannel pcm as well for HD DVD etc. So waddya think? Is it better to just go all or nothing or will this keep me happy until the next spree?

Onkyo TX-SR604

Edit: This does not have pre outs! So I guess that answers that question:D Let's see what else they have....

TX-SR605's are just right around the corner with HDMI v1.3a on board along with some other cool things like either XM/Sirius ready, Bi-amping capability (yep), Audyssey 2 EQ calibration (3 points), DTS-HD Master Audio and Dolby TrueHD Decoding AND HDMI AND Component Video upconversion (not upscaling) for a street price of $499.

    Just an FYI....:D

    Also...that link goes to a TX-SR603...not a 604

It's OK Darla, that's what happens when one is in early stages of audio withdrawl. ;)

It's a great unit. The sound quality is excellent; and the watts are not lacking.

I think it is advertised as a 90W/ch unit, but in reality it does 52W/ch all channels driven, which is not bad compared to other receivers that exaggerate their power claims much more than Onkyo does.

Well, at CES someone told me that the CEA is going to have certification rules for car amps.

The Onkyo isn't that bad; it's doing 50+ W/Ch when advertised as a 90W/Ch unit. Which isn't very exaggerated compared to some other manufacturers.

I think THIS Sherwood Receiver will be my next baby. In the meantime, I picked up Ben's HK AVR 235 to hold me over.:)
