If you don't have this and you love vinyl and swing and that voice touched by God, you need to search this one out.

Nat "King" Cole, "Just One of Those Things."

I was in a little CD/Record store that was closing its doors for good this past Saturday and found this new, sealed 180+gm pure virgin vinyl, S&P Records Limited Edition (Number 0173) for 75% off the sticker which was $24.99.

I played it tonight for the first time and was completely blown out of my chair. Dead quiet vinyl, the dynamics on the record makes a CD sound like a transistor radio, no ticks, no pops, no surface noise, just music and boy oh boy what music!!!!

My copy has the white stripe across the top that reads:
"Capitol STEREO The Full Spectrum of Sound." Also on the back is a big warning that states: "This Stereo Record Should Be Played ONLY With a Stereo Cartridge and Needle to Avoid Damage."

I found a copy of this being sold on Acoustic Sounds here, it is the 180 gm pressing but it doesn't say anything about Limited Edition. Anyhoo, this is one of those records that I can truely say is one of the best I've ever, ever heard. The music is five stars, the sonics are five stars.

This is what Acoustic Sounds has posted about this record:
Originally released in 1957, Just One Of Those Things has become a standout title in the Nat King Cole library because the theme is comparable to Frank Sinatra’s swing albums of the same time period and employs the same arranger and conductor, Billy May. The reissue of this classic was mixed and mastered by Steve Hoffman from the original three-track session masters. The lacquers were cut at AcousTech Mastering by Kevin Gray with plating and pressing at RTI.

"...Hoffman remixed from the original 3 track master tape, cutting way back on the reverb to produce a positively stunning studio document from the golden age of analog recording...Don't let the 1957 date throw you: this recording has the goods - it's spacious, three-dimensional, and immediate...All in all Just One of Those Things is a great re-issue, filled with classic music making from all involved. It will never date and was thus worthy of a 2004 release. It's never sounded better. Either cutting engineer Kevin Gray or Hoffman scribed into the dead wax 'Nat Lives!' This disc is the proof. Highly recommended for both music and sound." Music = 10/11; Sound = 10/11 - Michael Fremer, www.musicangle.com

This is one to search, find and acquire. Nat was so close to the mic on some of the songs that his Ps, Bs, & Ws, caused a percussion blast.

Great great great find!!!

He definitely had "the voice". I have the Tivoli Sound "The King of Sound". on SACD. I have the Modwright waming up right now. I think I'll throw it on before bedtime.

You won't regret it!!! The vinyl itself is so dead quiet.:)
