A long shot, no doubt. It's hard to find much information online, especially regarding pricing and reviews. I'll need one for my parents in my new house. It will be in the garage and will have to lift approx. 5 ft. I don't necessarily need it for a wheelchair, at least not yet...just so they don't have to use the stairs. I got a feeling this is going to be expensive.

We put in a refurbished lift for my mother a couple of years ago. It was a little over $2000 installed. But I'll tell you, we regret getting a refurbished one. We had a lot of service calls necessary that weren't covered by the shortened warranty. I'm sorry, but I don't know the brand or model number. We have since had to move my mother out of that house to one closer to us here in PA.

Sorry I don't have more info for you.

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

those lifts are mad pricey. if they are not nessecarily wheelchair bound, would a ramp be more applicable? can work long term if they go the motorized wheelchair/Jazzy route and a ramp is much easier on the knees than stairs...by a long shot

I won't ask what Mr Grand (ret.) was looking for when he dredged this back up

We went with nothing. No room for a ramp unfortunately. We're making them struggle with the stairs.
It's for their own good. See? http://www.globalaging.org/health/us/2005/mobile.htm

He didn't dredge it up. He was replying to a post from a spammer, that was removed shortly after.

I would think this would be covered under medicare? I thought those commercials for that stirlift thingamajiggie said that?
The thing that sucks about specialty items like that, is, once you ask for literature, fahgetaboutit! It's like signing up for time-share info.

    Ah...so. That explains it...thanks ;)

No, insurance won't cover it. I think the commercial says 'may' but it's likely just another bogus claim to take advantage of seniors, which unfortunately is a widespread and lucrative past time in our wonderful country.
