As you can see I have some older polk speakers though they still do the job for me.

I just got a new LCD TV and had to find a stand that would accomodate my CS400i on the 1st shelf below the TV.(as the CS400i is a monster)

The only stand I could find that my center ch. spkr would fit was the Sanus NF213(which is a really nice stand)

My speakers are almost perfectly matched as far as tonal qualities.(but that's when I had the ctr. speaker placed on top of the my old 32" CRT TV with the sanus speaker stand that allows you to place the ctr. ch. spkr. on top of the TV.

Now,with my center ch. spkr. placed below the TV, right at the front of the shelf, it really sounds totally different than the rest of the speakers.

I'm not sure what the answer is.. Having the spkr. placed at the front of the shelf (as it currently is) where there's about a foot from the back of the spkr. to the back of the stand so the sound is muffled.

or possibly placing it closer to the middle of the shelf so the back of the speaker will be in the open, but the front of the spkr. will have about a ft. of space to the front of the stand?

I've even though about hanging some type of shelf from the ceiling so the spkr. would sit near the top of the TV and be in the open as it was before.

Any suggestions or answers would be greatly appreciated.

Keep all speakers about the same distance away from the wall, ideally at least 12" clearance.

Shove some doorstops under the center channel to have it pointing directly to ear level, or prop it with some blugoo. (or whatever the heck that stuff is called)

I moved my Lsic from under to on top of the TV and found the sound much better. It seems putting a center speaker in a cabinet hurts the sound. Just my 2 cents.

What type of TV do you have? The LsiC is an even bigger monster than my CS400i !!

As I mentioned,I used to have it on top of my 32" CRT set and it sounded great

Unfortunately, there's no way to 'mount' a speaker on top of a 4" thick plasma or LCD set. The only option I had with my 40" LCD was to place it on the shelf below the TV.

Now it's in a stand similar to this one, www.dynamichomedecor.com/Sanus-NF213.html where it sits on the middle shelf, which is about twice as wide and twice as deep as the speaker (and with so little space between shelves, I had to slide it in from the side), the sound is at a totally different pitch than it was before, I'm stumped on what to do.

Again, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Why not just put a shelf directly above your tv and place the center on it? I have my center on a shelf right below my plasma and it does it's job well.

Agreed, putting a speaker in a cabinet diminishes the sound. I have opted for a centre channel stand out in front. And, I think it looks good.

I have a sammi DLP TV. They make a plate to put on the top the TV to hold a center channel. You will have to mount a shelf off the wall for a flat panel TV. General rule is to have the speaker aimed at ear level when sitting. Also, you want as little around the speaker as possible (like cabinet walls).

I'd love to place it on a speaker stand in front of the TV stand. Unfortunately, my place just isn't quite big enough for that.

Luckilly, it's not in a cabinet with walls on the front, sides or back, just the shelf it's sitting on along with shelf on top of it..

Still, it's not the same as being out in the open.

    Thanks,I appreciate the feedback.
