Yes, and Yes $100 if they are functional is a great deal. All parts but the Passive Radiators are still avail from Polk. So if the PR are damaged I'd think twice other wise.................run don't walk"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks

Yeah right! She doesn't think anymore stuff like that needs to come home with me. So far, no response to my email, they may be gone already anyway.David -
Well, I got 'em for a 100 bucks. They sound great, BUUUUT, the guy spray painted the vinyl veneer black, not a terrible job, but just the idea. I decided these will be a good project, I'm going to peel off the vinyl and probably re-do in oak or ash. I had to drive about 40 miles each way to see them and with my Hemi, gas alone cost me about 20 bucks, so what the hell. Functionally, they're fine. If nothing else, they'll work great in the garage. Oh, mama won't see them for a while!David

I got a pair of these for $40 at a yard sale last fall with a bad tweeter and some plant damage on one. Great speakers, very underappreciated in the greater audio community. Not bad bass for such a skinny design.

Congrats. A hair dryer (good) or heat gun (better) will help with removing the old vinyl. Partsexpress sells vinyl laminate with a grain similar to the original. For application get the Band-It Edge Trimmer which is a 90degree edge and blade. Partsexpress sells it 260-058 but your local TrueValue hardware store should have it for a few dollars less. Vinyl veneer is difficult to work with so consider real wood veneer which has much better results. Check around for 3M pressure sensitive wood veneer. Woodcraft and some lumber yards sell it or you can order online.
You have the option of taming the tweeter in this model to either the upgrade RD0194-1 or modify it to use the SL3000/RD0198-1 tweeter.

I was out of town for a few days, many thanks for putting all this information in one place for me and kudos to doro for the time taken with the schematics. I haven't taken any "before" pictures yet but I cleaned (1) of the drivers, they're going to clean-up real nice. I've got to hold off doing anything else until I get pics. Woodcraft does have some really nice veneers to choose from, also, before I start ordering components, I need to decide between the RD0194 or change to the TL version, what would ya'll suggest?David
