My New Speakers are Here!

I went and picked up my new speakers this evening unpacked them and at was taken aback by how big and beautiful they are. These are one serious build and much more so given the price that I paid. I have included some pictures next to the Lsi15's for a sense of scale.
How do they sound do you ask? To me the 2 most important character in a speaker is, I need them to sound big, and do so with just a relaxed sense of ease. These totally fulfill this for me. I don't know what more to say...musical, fast, big, sweet, tight....my tube amps are having no problem at all controlling the woofer. I have been playing some cd's this evening, some great recordings and some recordings that annoyed me before. They have been sounding great with everything that I have thrown at them so far. I was a little worried I may lose some of the holographic sound that I heard in the 6371's (2 way, higher line) going with these 3 ways. The midrange still has that sweet holographic sound and these have much, much, better bass than I have heard on the 6371's. Granted the 6371's I heard were in a very soft room. Anyway, I am just thrilled.
Right now I have some Raytheon 5687's in my preamp that I do not like at all. I can't wait to get some Tung Sol's back in there. I guess I will place my order at the TubeDepot tomorrow.
Thanks,
Mike
PS. pictures didn't turn out great and the lens is dirty but I am too tired to take them again....maybe tomorrow.

Looking good Mike, real good. Can't wait to hear an in depth musical review. Now that you're pretty much set on the music end, (for now) maybe you need to get started on the video end. Thanks everybody.
My next step is to build myself a rack so that everything can sit in a proper home. I want to do something in the style of the Salamander racks. Unfortunately, I have too many other projects to take care of first so I probably won't be able to tackle that until late summer.
However, I don't mean to discourage anybody that wants to make a donation towards a new display.:) I ensure you it will be used appropriately.
Thanks,

Sick man, sick. Danny (of the GR-Research Danny's) is actually working with Usher now, and doing crossover re-designs for them. When I picked up my Alpha's, he showed me the K-728's he is modifying right now.
Hardcore things to come broham, hardcore things.

Joe they'll be coming I just want to put the 200 hours on them that Usher states as the break in time....If today is any indication it'll be about 2 weeks
JoeyV it is a nice catch. They sat as a dealer ad on Canuck Audio Mart for over 3 weeks. I kept checking in hoping somebody would buy these things as they were driving me crazy. I just couldn't take it anymore and stole them.
Russ your speaker **** friend sure does get around.
Today had to be the longest listening session I have ever had. I have been listening literally the whole day. I am just thrilled. Time to call it a night.

Alot of people talk about using neoprene or rubber washers between the steel washers. I didnt and it worked out fine.
Good luck!Terps Swimming!

No I haven't. You say they were, what do you use now?
How did/do they differ sonically from the Tung Sol's?

I sent my SWL 9.0SE back to Dan for conversion to the SWLP 9.0SE. The power supply is now external and tube rectifed to make room for his internal Class A phono stage. All the caps in the signal path have been changed to his new MWI (ModWright Industries) custom Teflon film/foil and Metalized Oil Impregnated Poly caps. I have another 150 hours of burn in before tube rolling will determine what works best in it for me.
The Sylvania GB-5687 is a bit warmer than the Tung Sol 5687 but not overly euphonic.Salk SoundScape 8's * Audio Research Reference 3 * Bottlehead Eros Phono * Park's Audio Budgie SUT * Krell KSA-250 * Harmonic Technology Pro 9+ * Signature Series Sonore Music Server w/Deux PS * Roon * Gustard R26 DAC / Singxer SU-6 DDC * Heavy Plinth Lenco L75 Idler Drive * AA MG-1 Linear Air Bearing Arm * AT33PTG/II & Denon 103R * Richard Gray 600S * NHT B-12d subs * GIK Acoustic Treatments * Sennheiser HD650 * -

Mike I like to take notes during the break-in period so I get a clear picture of how things are coming along breaking in. I did that with the new RD198 tweeters in the 1.2 TLs and I also did it with the Dynavector 10 x 5 cartridge. It is mind boggling how when you go back over the notes how much different the broken in device sounds. PS: You can borrow Phyllisann to help break in the speaks. She zones out about 4 hours a day listening to CDs(yuck):D -
Wow when do you get your turn.....and cd's sound pretty damn good on my end. I listened for about 14 hours yesterday and no fatigue at all.

9:00 PM on I listen to LPs, sometimes take me into the wee small hours of the morning.
You must have some CD player to listen that long without fatigue.
EDIT: I just checked your sig again. I forgot you have very very very nice rig. Perfect for warming up DIGITAL. -
