RTi 10 frequency
I have a Harman Dpr and it defaults my mains to 100hz. The specs on the Rti 10s I believe is 125hz should I change the default of my amp to match that of my speakers?

Welcome to the club Joey!
To answer your question, no do not set your receiver to 125Hz.
I think you are getting confused about the sub crossover spec for this speaker. Realize this refers to the woofer inside the RTi-10 not the subwoofer sitting on your floor, I'm assuming you have one sitting on the floor here.
Your receiver adjustment refers to the LFE cross over point below which all information for speakers set to small is sent to the subwoofer. I have my receiver crossover set to 80Hz and would recommend that for as starting point for you as well.AVR: Elite VSX-21TXH

Thanks, However my amp can independently run each speaker at a different rating. I do currently have my sub set at 80hz. Once again though since my amp can run different frequencies to each speaker should I adjust the settings for my main channels to match that of the main speakers. In otherwords my sub is set to 80hz and my mains are set to 100hz this is the default from Harman Kardon but the spec on the RTI 10's is 125hz. I understand I can set them to small but WHY they are RTI 10's not satellites, I prefer to have an even distribution from my sound stage. Anyway any and all suggestions would be appreciated.HK DPR 2005

What spec is 125Hz? Are you talking about where the woofers are passed in its internal crossover?
Run the RTi10's set to large, no or lowest possible crossover setting.Check your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service. -
Maybe I am reading the raitings wrong for the RTi10. How low can they go?HK DPR 2005

What Russ said, you are looking at the internal crossover rating for the speaker.AVR: Elite VSX-21TXH

I have been doing some research in the LFE bass management catagory. I know 18 million people do the same thing every year and I hate to post about it but I guess im to lazy to continuously search the forums. Anyway when a speaker is set to large my understanding is that the speaker runs full range hence there is no reason to adjust the crossovers because the speaker is running at its maximum spec. Is that correct? And if so when I set to small I can at that time adjust the crossover or can I adjust it either way? (large or small) I would test it myself but I had to send my amp back to HK becaused it blew a channel. Its only the 3rd time Ive sent it back (ehhhuumm) also just to screw around I am going to bi amp my speakers. I here alot of (it sounds so much better) and I here ( ahhh no difference) However I feel if it did not make a difference why would the manufactures build speakers with 5 way binding posts. :cool:HK DPR 2005

FWIW, I set my rti8's to small and have the xover set at 60 for my mains. all other speakers are set @ 80hz. I also have a HK but I am also running monoblocks to my main 3.

I am going to bi amp my speakers. /QUOTE]
And how do you plan on bi-amping them? do you have other amps? if not maybe you are thinking of bi-wire . -

Joey, your understanding of the large-small setting is correct. The exception is when a receiver has a "plus" type setting for the sub. In the case of my Pioneer setting the fronts to large and the sub to plus means both the fronts and the sub get the lower frequencies. The fronts get full range, which includes frequencies below the crossover, and the sub gets everything below the crossover setting for all speakers.
In my system I did not use this configuration until after I added the amp. The Pioneer alone just did not sound good when driving the fronts full range.AVR: Elite VSX-21TXH
