Placement in a cabinet?

I had this brainstorm early this morning (always scary), that I could put a pair of speakers in the areas where my TV stand curently has doors with storage space behind. I would take the doors off and keep the speakers to the front of the space. They have front port, tweeter and mid. The space is a tight fit though the depth of the space is about double that of the speaker. If the front of the speaker is far forward, will this cause any weird acoustics? Thanks. Neil

Only one way to find out - hook 'em up & see how they sound. But generally speaking such a tight fit doesn't bode well for good sound. Speakers really do need room to breath. Sound waves are effected by the slightest obstructions. You have to be the judge.

If the ports and the speakers face forward then make sure the speakers are even or forward of the cabnet edge.
