I want to buy an SR sub this week. but I really don't know which ones to get. Right now I have a jl 500/1. Later on when i get the other sub i may get another amp too. don't know the brand. So I really need to know what SVC or DVC will fit my needs.

The 500/1 will give you full power from 1.5 - 4 ohms, so either setup will work. As far as what you what to get for down the road....depends on the amp you are getting.Alpine: CDA-7949

I may get two, and another amp.. depends the price, but i don't want to weak quality.. I really care about SQ. I can get kicker, some mb quart, polk, at a good price and probably precision power, but kicker's known for SPL not SQ so i wouldn't know if I should go with them or not. I will only buy another 500/1 if I find a really good deal on one. I guess I may need advice on the other amp. But for know i really need to know to go SVC or DVC because i want to do the order ASAP since it takes 4-6 weeks to receive the product from polk. Thanks for the reply/ies

Look at the charts for the different ways to wire subwoofers, this will give you an idea of what you can do with different configurations.

I would have no issue running Kicker amps in my cars. In fact I ran several of their amp for years.Alpine: CDA-7949

Precision Power (PPI) isn't what they used to be dude. But this conversation has been had 1,000 times. If you're going for a big monstrous amp, and money really isn't an issue, then look at the following, in this order.
- TruTechnology
- Zapco
- USAmps
- MTX
- Kicker

Eh. Hifonics. Not one Id chose.
Have seen 2 of their amps tested in magazines.
Neither made their rated power and one actually died on the test bench.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

I guess I may use kicker then. The price is right too.

Id get the Polk 500.1
Kickers are great amps but the Polk will exceed its ratings by a good bit, and Id trust it more to have less noise (turn on pops and such).
Another 500/1 wouldnt be a bad idea either.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

Dude, you have been saying this for like 3 years now. How old were these articles that you read?Expert Moron Extraordinaire

Well CA&E did a test on a Hifonics Class D amp a few months ago and this "5000" watt amp made 3500 at 12.5V and 4600 at 14.4V. Thats a pretty big gap to come up short. Car Audio & Electronics Mag
The one with the amp that died on the test bench was in Mobile Entertainment about a year and a half ago right before they changed over to Road Gear. Their site is **** up so I cant link it.
So Ive been saying this for a year and a half to 2 years at the most. Doesnt mean Im wrong. You know me, somebody asks my opinion on something, Ill sure give it to em.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

Non of the many Kicker amps that I've run over the years have ever produced any type of noise issues, be it turn on/turn off pops or anything else.
This goes from the Kicker ZR's (360, 240 x 2), ZX's (460), and DX (700) of the mid to late 90's to the more current KX (600.1) and ZX (750.1) lines.Alpine: CDA-7949

Thats cool. I like my Crossfires but once they get warmed up they THUD when you turn them off.
I went to Walmart and bought a small battery fan and stand it on my toolbox so itll blow some air across the amps during judging.
Theyve gotta go soon tho. Once summer gets here there wont be any hiding it.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005
