Nice amp, I have one in boxed up in my garage for later use. You will not need additional batteries or caps, so don't worry about those. Did you get the SVC or DVC model? Just be careful with the gains if you bought the DVC model as those Kickers can provide more than twice the rated power for that sub.

    Agreed.

Might want to consider going with 1/0 gauge wiring instead of the 4 tho.

i 4got to mention im gonna add another sub to the amp soon, i know to wire them for 2 ohms and all (there svc). i bought one for now cause im fiberglassing 2 boxes but its taking a while cause of school and work. so i basically just follow the normal amp setup, wire to the battery for power, ground it, wire to head unit and wire to subs? would i want to use 1/0 gauge for just the power to the amp or for grounding and to the subs too?

If you go with the 1/0 gauge wire, use this for the power and ground connections. For the subs you could go with either 10 or 12 ga.

He can use 4 gauge guys -- jeez -- 750 watt amp? that's less than 70 amps for a class D. that's WELL within 4 gauge range.

**** 1/0 is for 200+ amp ****... have we all lost our audio minds?

Yes, 4 gauge is fine. The subs I would run 12 gauge speaker wire.

The last time I used 1/0 guage wire, I was powering about 2800 watts of A class power in an Astro van. I think it was overkill then too.

I'm running about 1200 watts in my truck with 4 guage, 1000 watts in a Taurus with 4 guage and about 1175 watts in a Jeep with 4 guage.

750 watts of D-class power is about half the capacity of 4 guage wire.

What is it with ClubPolk? Every time someone asks for help and gives budget/space constraints, it's thrown out the window and suggestions are made that are either not needed or grossly out of the price range. Yeah, 750 watts is nothing to shake a stick at, it's heavy duty if not hardcore power for sure. But just like say, building a house, I don't need a sledgehammer to drive 16 penny framing nails into a 2x4.

Calm down guys. I just suggested 1/0 as an option. Didnt say he would be skinned alive and boiled in olive oil if he used any less.

Yes 4 gauge will work fine with 750 watts. However I was working under the assumption that thats not the only amp he's got. So I was figuring hes running close to 1000 watts total.

There is nothing wrong with using a bigger gauge wire. It will reduce the resistance and allow more voltage to reach the amps which means more power which means louder music with which to piss of thy neighbors. ;)

Say hes drawing 150 amps total and running 20' of 4 gauge wire. That would be over 1.5 volts lost at the end of the run. Thats not a huge deal but with the engine off, youre looking at less than 11 volts at your amps and a little over 12 at idle.

Now if that were a 1/0 gauge wire, now we're looking at around a .5 volt lost. So even with the engine off and a 20 foot run of wire, he's still got 12 volts reaching the amps and over 13 at idle.

So according to my trusty internet calculator, running 1/0 gauge instead of 4 aint such a terrible idea.
