Just had to share that I caught a killer deal on an Arcam CD72T. A friend of mine who is an electronics rep out of Kansas City hooked me up with their flawless office demo model.
Due to a really rough week I haven't had much time yet to listen to it. However, so far I'm really liking what I hear. As some of you may recall, about 6 months ago I tried out a Cambridge Audio 640C v.1, but ended up returning it. It was a nice player but just sounded too clinical in my system. If everything I have read about the Burr Brown DAC in this Arcam is true, I'm pretty certain I will be very happy with it.
Well, I'm off to do a little listening!

OK. I've finally had some time to do some listening. So far all is good. I'm shocked how precise it sounds without being harsh or edgy. I think a large contributor to this is a noticeable decrease in flutter. This was most pronounced on Eagles - Hell Freezes Over. Since I have two copies of this I was able to do a direct A/B comparison between the Arcam and my old Sony. In a number of passages the Arcam simply sorted through the music in a more organized fashion. Everything sounded perfectly timed through the Arcam, while the Sony would at times sound chaotic.
It would seem too that my predictions about this player have proved true. I'm noticing much more detail, and refinement, much like I did with the Cambridge Audio. However this player manages to maintain a level of warmth, and emotion that I just couldn't get out of the Cambridge.
I think I still need to run a few more discs through before I decide if it has earned it's keep. But from what I've heard thus far I think I finally found a winner.
More to come (hopefully).:rolleyes:HT
