CD changer issues

I just got in a used Carver cd changer and it looks great and music quality seems great. It is missing the top row of screws around the top of the case (4 in number) and when you open the drawer, there is a very low motor noise and then the drawer closes in about 10-15 seconds. Makes it hard to load one CD, let alone more. Is this in the design so the drawer doesn't hang open, or do I need to open this up and see if there might be a "jam." The sound quality is awesome and I hope to make this the new #1 cd player in the house. Thanks for any help. Mike

Nevermind this post. There seems to be a very slight dent in the opening for the drawer that is causing a bit of drag. I wouldn't have asked, but after being on this forum for the past couple weeks and making some changes around here, I've improved sound quality about 75%. Thanks.

Thanks. I actually have a couple others, but this was picked up used for a fraction of new...of course, Carver likely way overcharged for their name. Given my tax bill, I won't be buying new for awhile!
