Home Theatre Speaker Advise
I love movies and the only way I get to watch English movies is through HT.
I have ONKYO TX SR 504 AV RECEIVER
OPPO OPDV971H Upconverting DVD Player
SONY Grand Wega 50 KF-E50A10 3LCD RPTV
and need advise regarding the speakers.
Which Polk series will be the Best choice Monitors or the RTi.
Are the RTi worth the extra money

Yes, RTi's are worth the extra money.

I agree.
Do you live anywhere near a retailer where you can try them out yourself? Or will this be a blind buy?Proud SOPA Member since 2005! -
This will be a blind buy, because the nearest Polk dealer is some 500kms. away.
If I had the opportunity to hear them I wouldn't be here asking questions. -

I second both of those opinions2 CHANNEL
Speaker - Klipsch Heresy II
Under construction -
If you aren't hurting for bucks, Rti. List price, not a lot of difference.
If the piggybank's running low, though, keep an eye out on Fry's for a deal on Monitors. Much bigger difference in price then.Sal Palooza -

Welcome aboard, the Rti series are great and will definitely bring spice to the HT party. I went in blind also and from there became a member of the forum as you have and a few months down the road have zero regrets with my purchase or the Polk Family. Stick around, lots to learn and fun to be had here. Oh yeah, nice toys you have in the rack thus far.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

Thanks for the welcomes.
I live in a small town in the Southern State of Andhra Pradesh in India.
I can afford the RTis allright, so that is settled.
The Choice of a SUB remains unsettled as I see the majority NOT using Polk Subs. SVS seems to be a hot favourite but unfortunately they have no dealers in India and shipping costs as much as the sub itself. -
What about Velodyne.engtaz
I love how music can brighten up a bad day. -
giddavr you can still try getting an SVS, they use a freight forwarding company called BAX global and are able to ship door to door worldwide. There's one catch, it can be costly, but it depends on just how bad you really want one. I had one shipped to Japan and will have another on the way next month or so. Shipping to Japan was 400 +cost of sub. You can try sending an email to SVS and have them quote you on it plus any voltage configuration you may require.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

I did write to SVS and they said they can ship it alright and will get back with the shipping costs. Am still waiting for their mail.
So seems everyone is unanimous about SVS being the Best for the SUB -
I really like the RTi speaker line.
As for subs, I can only speak fir the Velodyne brand: well worth the money. Other potentially better value brands may include SVS and HSU.Do you hear that buzzing noise? -
The RTi series is certainly worth the extra money. In my opinion, you should probably get a more powerful receiver. I haven't listened to a Onkyo receiver since the 501/601 systems, but those, while technically can play the RTi speakers fine, if you are spending all that money to begin with, you really should spend a little more for a better receiver.

No I cant change the receiver right away.
If you think RTi need more watts to perform well, would I be better off with the Monitor series.
What I want to know basically is , with my present set up , wiil RTi series perform equally if not better than Monitors. If so I will buy the RTis and upgrade the AVR later. Otherwise I will buy Monitors. -
Go ahead and go with the RTi lineup, later on down the road you can go with a power amp. The avr will drive your speakers, no problem for time being.
Edit: By the way what speakers in the RTi lineup are you considering?Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

What combo would you recommend if there were no budgetary constraints -
Since youre considering a SVS sub, RTi10s,CSi5,FXi5 in 5.1 setup, for a 7.1 add a pair of Rti4s in your rear. Since you say coin is no concern you could always go Rti12s instead of the 10s.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!
