    Hello,

    Nice to hear, you must of been on pre-order to get it so soon? Which Toshiba player do you have that you'd compare it too? Interesting, I'm still enjoying the PS3...

    Can you comment on the upcoversion of SD DVD's yet? Suppose to have the same REON chip as the XA2, wonder how it adds up?

    Give an in depth review when you can. It sounds like a good player. Does it give the SD DVDs that pop as in BR sort of speak. How big of a screen are you on? How are you connected, Im thinking via component since you mentioned no HDMI. What BR media are you using to review? Have fun, the new Sammy is definitely nice. Good to see 2nd gen players rolling out, although I still think the 1st gen Sony is one of the best reference players to come out.

    I have both PS3 and Toshiba ran with HDMI to my AVR to consume the wonderful new audio spectrum of TrueHD and lossless PCM audio.:)

    I use PS3 for BD but what AVR you have that does the TrueHD decoding:confused:

    Speakers=>Salk Soundscape 8, Soundscape Center,Surrounds-Dali Rubicon LCR, Lsi7
    PreAmp, Amp => Marantz AV8801, ATI 6007 amp, Oppo HA-1 DAC
    Source => Sonore MicroRendu, Oppo BDP-103, Mede8er 600XD, Dune HD Smart D1, Synology DS1813+(16TB)
    Sub - JTR Captivator S2 (Dual 18")
    Power - Furman IT-Ref20i on dedicated 30Amp circuit with Furutech GTX-R outlet
    Screen=> JVC RS-45 projector Da-Lite HP 133" 2.35

    I have a Pioneer VSX-74TXVi AVR, the player itself does the decoding. Choose PCM audio in the player(so the player decodes) and then on the menu on the disk itself, choose TrueHD or lossless. Enjoy...

    Remember, the only way to take advantage of this is to use HDMI or the analog outs for audio.

    Also, you do not need an AVR that does the decoding or HDMI 1.3 to take advantage of this.

    Here is a very good read on this subject, check it out...

    I've got the BD-P1000, fantastic machine. You need to use the analog outs and capture those LPCM tracks, that are flat out amazing. The 5.1 LPCM track will kick **** over DD 7.1. I have 7.1 and don't use it for that reason.

    Congrats on the purchase.

    Mikec78, are you saying that you have a receiver that decodes the hdmi 1.3? If so is it a Pioneer? Or are you saying that your player does it. Also the dts site & dolby hd says to connect 7.1 to the 7.1 on your pre-pro, I dont know of any player that has 7.1 output just 5.1 This whole hdmi thing is very confusing for an old man!!!

    oldman:p ,

    You don't need HDMI 1.3 or a receiver that decodes the new codecs. The player does all the decoding, all you are doing is sending that information via LPCM to your receiver. You will get PCM lossles with BD1200 via the 5.1 analog outs of the player to the AVR.

    I don't believe your Sherwood will accept HDMI, so that's not an option.

    I have to agree with you, the Sony put outs an excellent picture, and looks gorgeous while doing it. Im running everything via HDMI, both the Toshiba A1 and the Sony to my display. As mentioned before you should run everything via analog or HDMI when possible to enjoy lossless and true hd audio. I know on my AVR everything comes through as LPCM 46hz or 96hz. It really is the way to go if you have that option. Matter of fact while Im thinking about it, I wonder if I will notice a difference in sound with the new Denon 4308ci that will be able to decode the HD audio formats over what I have now, any takes on that guys?

    Shouldn't make a lick of difference... It will all depend on which DACS are better.

    Thanks Mike, I was wondering since Im considering a new AVR over a Denon 4806ci. HDMI ver 1.3 would be nice, but it requires sources to have 1.3 also in order to benefit from it, none of what I have are 1.3 and the new JVC DLA HD1 isnt either. So I may just consider the 4806 afterall, then again I could just wait and get the latest and be up to date for a month or two until HDMI ver 1.4 appears. LOL

    I'd definetly get the Denon 4806ci, that is one heck of a receiver! I'm keeping my Pioneer for a long time. No need for HDMI 1.3, don't get into all the hype...

    Agreed Mike, I will pick up a 4806ci when I move into the new dedicated room, it should last me awhile.

    Thanks everyone, I guess I need to try the analog ins & outs, & get over the 7.1. I think I could run a splitter to the back rears but then they would just get the side surr info.

    The only player on the BR market right now that encodes 7.1 lossless is the PS3. Like you said, you can try the splitter route? Once you connect the analogs, you'll never go back! You're are in for one big surprise!:) Good luck and enjoy...
