I have ONE 10 dvc dvc sr sub. and my ONE TEN inch sub was enough to give me a headache in my suv. You chose the correct sub

I have a question about these subs (sr124 dvc). i'm in the market to buy two of these. I'm currently building a fiberglass enclosure and i'm ready to start laying down the matting. but before i do so, i wanna make sure these will fit. I know the mounting depth is just under 20cm... but i'm assuming that's in the centre. The subs are going to be on an angle, and so I need to know how far they go in from the edges. I'll have more than enough room if I know that the 20cm depth area is in the centre only, an inch or two from the edge. It'd be **** to build an enitre box only to find out that I can't use it.
Thanks in advance! -
What is the difference between DVC and not having the DVC at the end of the model number? Can you compare these subs to the MOMO's and JL 12W6v2's?My system (thanks to everybody for the help)

DVC is dual voice coil. If youve got a mono amp and want to run a single sub at a 2 ohm load, then the DVC is the one you need. Otherwise, just get the single voice coil model.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

no, there is no sound difference, just diiferent wiring confiurations.
check this website for dvc wiring.

That's not "entirely" true. The DVC's have dual spiders, which makes them heaver to move with an amplifier. In turn, they are not as tight.
Now, honestly this doesn't matter because you really can't hear this difference. But it does mean that at the same load, the SVC will be slightly louder than a DVC.
If you are getting 2 DVC's then you are going to have to use an amplifier that is stable down to 1 ohm (rare), or run them at 4 ohms. If you are using a single amp that is 2 ohm stable, you would be better off using 2 SVC's wired in parallel. -

Thats not "at all" true. Aside from the voice coils, DVC's & SVC's are built identical & even the svc SR sub has dual spiders. The only difference is more wiring options on a DVC which could give you a lower ohm load so you get more power from your amp if you need. -
there are lots of 1 ohm stable d class amps out there. i run a massive audio amp. they are great amps for the money, 1500 watts@ 1 ohm with no problems at all.kenwood excelon kdc-x991 h.u.

Um...then why do the SVC's have different thiele/small parameters?
SVC DVC
Fs 29hz 30hz
Qts 0.53 0.55
Qes 0.58 0.60
Qms 6.9 8.0
Mms 200g 183g -
Never said the T/S parameters were the exact same, but they are still very close that you couldnt tell an audible difference. And the info you posted shows that moving mass is actually lower on the DVC's, but again nobody will be able to hear a difference in 17g difference.
-
Im sure you could get some kind of measuring device that could pick out a difference between SVC and DVC subs. However, your ears aint gonna be one of those devices. So essentially, there is NO SQ difference between SVC and DVC subs (so long as theyre the same brand and model of course).polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

These sub's sound amazing...they are by far, my ALL-TIME favs...except I blew one the other day... 2 SR124-DVC's hooked up series-parallel to my Alpine PDX 1.1000...I'll let you know how the warranty procedure treats me...

buy the DVC, its the same as the SVC but with more wiring options.
the SVC should be at 4 Ohms
the DVC can be at 2, or 4 Ohms...
and the price is the same.Z

actually the DVC model can only be wired into 2-ohms or 8-ohms bro (not 4-ohms). This is assuming your only using a single sub ofcourse.
The reason they have two models of subs (SVC and DVC) is so you can properly match with your amp and maximize performance.
