I have a 12X18 family room that is pre-wired for 5.1 in-ceiling surrounds. I need advice on which of the following in-ceiling options would work best.

1) All 5 RC80is (Front 3 + Rear 2)
2) Front 3 TC80is + Rear 2 RC80is (First of all would this combination work?)
3) Front 3 TC80is + Rear 2 TC60is

Option 2 is around 225$ more expensive than option 1, and Option 3 is around 160$ more expensive than Option 2. I am trying to decide on one of these options. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Want to make sure the extra bucks for some of these options is worth it.

One more question is I am planning on a psw-10 sub, and an onkyo sr674 to go with this setup. Are there any big gotchas with this setup?

Thanks in advance..

If you can swing it, of the options you listed, #3 would be the best, by far. The TC in walls are nice, I am not a fan of the RC's at all.

If you look hard on ebay, you can get the TC80i's for very cheap, and I tell you what, 5 of those would rock!

Oh, the PSW10 is pretty much junk. I know that is strong language, but search here and you will see it is not well regarded at all. Dunno about the Onk AVR though, maybe someone else can help you out on that part...

I would go with op.3, the TC series are really nice sounding speakers.

Would the TC s really work well as LCR fronts? Are you guys fans of in-ceiling front channel speakers in a 5.1 set-up other than the new LCi-RTS100 which sound great but are really pricey? I am considering 5 LC80i but someone mentioned that there would be dispersion issues with in-ceiling speakers.

Option 2 would not be timbre matched.

I, for one, like in-walls. If I had a choice between nice inwalls and satellite, Bose, or HTIB. . . I'm going Polk inwalls all the way.

People will tell you to look at SVS subs. Depending on room size, they can run $450 for some (Bstock) up to $1500. Any of them offer excellent value.

I have a Mirage Omni S12 and like it. HSU is another good one.
