I have been moving equipment around in this room for over a year and thought I would show you what it now looks like. The pyramids convert the infarred to RF and control the equipment behind the seating area. I have two Revox amps and tuner and 3 sony jukeboxes.

I may change the whole set up later.

    Nice looking room BZ!

I send hours getting every thing at right and parallel angles. I usually listen with eyes closed and drink of single malt, but when the eyes are open I notice non parallel lines. And you thought you were nuts.

Nice room. The center of the sofa must be one nice sweet spot. When your kicking back with your eyes closed, do you ever open them to make sure nobody is watching you listen to music with your eyes closed?:D

Gardening or playing in the dirt is my other hobby. I spend much time and money trying to grow things.

The sweet spot is the center of the big black sofa.

I think I would hear some one walking up close to me while listening to music with my eyes closed. The sound stage is much bigger without vision.

I've got to show this to my wife. She thinks I'm the only one. Only my "problem" isn't parallel lines as much as it is room symmetry. Someday I'll put a picture of my man-cave on here and you'll know of what I speak. :)

ps: btw, your room and speakers look great! I'll bet they really sing there.

    Show us the photos dougy.

Symmetry is the best word to describe the issue.

It maybe a slight form of autism. Not may people notice or even care about the lines.

I think you could make the argument that audiophilia itself is a manifestation of some mental...condition. :) I think we all have it to varying degrees, though. For instance, I see lots of pics of systems where the L & R speakers are not the same distance from the TV. Even though the equipment may be top-notch, this is a set-up condition I could not tolerate for five minutes (I can't go for that, no-oo-o, no can do. I can't go for that, can't go for that, can't go for that...):D .

I agree. The worst for me is when the sofa is no parallel to the TV. That means every one must look to the side to watch the TV. BAD.

The TV is connected to the Sony 400 cd jukebox. It displays the CD that is playing.

I've had my wife or son walk right up on me when lost in the music. It can be quit startling!!! What makes me open my eyes is that the audible image changes for no reason and I open my eyes and then yell at them to get out of the way!!! LOL ;)

I took a picture of my bedroom setup this morning and was appalled to find the right speaker looked a little further away from the TV than the left. I measured, and it was the same. . . so maybe the angle of toe-in or the angle of the picture taking was off.

But, it bugged me nonetheless. I am also disgraced by wire management issues in my rigs, but with as much as I move gear in and out, it just doesn't make sense to spend too much time on wiring.

Don't look if you fear assymetry. It looks really bad.

It's all in the details of what is important to you if you live alone.

Now the wife factor is also important.

Wires in back of the equipment can always be wrapped with black tape. Speaker wires can be put under the carpet and taped to the back of the stands. Your system looks very centered BTW.

Some one once told me if you want to really see what the equipment looks like to a visitor (this was at work for a presentation of large heat treating chambers) take a photo. For some reason the eye and brain will take away stuff when you look at it, but the photo will show ALL.

I told my wife Ruthie that I put photos of the black 2 channel room in the polk club. She told me to put a photo of her 2 channel room or the sun room. She likes to listen to jazz in the morning and read the Globe paper with the cat on her lap.

Wow Ruthie is a lucky gal, very nice setup. . . Phyllisann gets to be banished to the converted utility room with a boom-box which btw she really did a nice decorating job on. . . that is her smoking room!:D ;)

Yeah, Ruthie has a sweet setup there. Maybe spring for a new couch. . . but if it's comfy, I guess who cares.

I wouldn't mind sipping on some coffee while listening to some light music (maybe Jack Johnson), and knocking out the crossword before work each morning. Probably would keep me balanced and more focused during the day.

    QUOTE]

I hate the couch also but it can be made into a bed and it's not comfy IMHO. But it's her room to do with what she wants.

A key to any happy marrage is to have separate bathrooms however.

Agree. I share a 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom apt with my gf and would love another bathroom. She likes to take hours to get ready and won't even let me shower when she's in there cuz it fogs up the mirrors.

And, conversely, I occassionally like to punish the porcelain which makes it uninhabitable for some time.

    .

That's a lot of mirror time or maybe you shower in 5 minutes. Don't they have sprays that stop the fogging?
