I love me some Interpol. Seen 'em once at the Curiosa festival and thoroughly enjoyed the set. One of the few bands that the wife and I agree wholeheartedly on.
If you'd told me ten years ago that MMJ would be playing Lolapalooza, I would have laughed you out of the room. I remember one of their last local dive shows before they hit it big became so crowded that you had to wait for someone to leave before you could get into the bar. I remember turning to my friend and saying this would probably be the last of these types of shows. They played locally about once every two weeks, so it seemed kind of ludicrous at the time.
She called me two years ago to remind me I said that. I was so loaded on Beam, I had forgotten:DI never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore -
I'm about to pull the trigger on two tickets for me and the wife. I've held out since the festival's inception in the mid-90's on the premise indie bands shouldn't charge Billy Joel-like prices...
but this line-up is too strong and I make a bit more money than I did in high school.
100% SELL-OUT!!!!!!
That being said... anyone else going?I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. What we're trying to figure out is that Interpol is supposed to be playing the Southgate House in Cincy on the 3rd. In fact, we were planning on going to this show before LUlllallappolllaooozer.
By the way... are you familiar with a local band from around your neck of the woods known as The Tallest?I never had it like this where I grew up. Wow, I'm getting old, don't know any of those bands.

You know Iggy (Pop) and the Stooges at the very least:pI never had it like this where I grew up. Nah, it's just that Lollapalooza stopped being about bands like Metallica a few years back. Perry started giving newer bands a shot along with a few bigger names. Back when I 'worked' for Weezer I had all access to the festival from the band for me and a friend. Met a lot of great folks, and it's still one of the best times I can ever recall. Was just an absolute blast. It's pretty cool all he does for the smaller bands out there to get some exposure.
Last year my friend's band won their battle of the bands contest, but due to scheduling conflicts couldn't make it. Really sucked, but hey -- they're giving good bands that are under the radar a shot. -
I agree, but it's always been a bit unnerving that from the very beginning ticket prices have been slightly out of reach for the average type of fan of these kinds of music.
In '95, I was doling out $5 a pop to see any of my favorite groups on a given night. It just never sat right with me. I always expected to go to LUllalappoolooolalsddoaa and see nothing but record execs and their daddies.
But a decade later and more scratch in my pocket and I'm off to Chi-town...
Hope I die before I get old. T-t-t-t-talkin' about my generationI never had it like this where I grew up. Eh, you're seeing a crapload of your favorite bands for a very small amount of money in one day compared to what you'd pay individually. That's undeniable. Not to mention, it's gotta cost a hell of a lot of money to put the event on smack dab in the middle of Grant Park. Sure, Chicago is making the tourism buck, but I can't imagine the insurance costs, etc. Love to know what the profit margin is.

So I take it you're going Dave:pI never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Doubful. Too damn busy around here to predict what things will be like that weekend.
