Sweet sound of tubes

Hi,
I found the combo of the airplane wing 6201 (12at7) tubes and the silver DIY rca interconnects sounds sooo good I cant imagine anything topping them. I have been tube swapping and keep putting the airplane wing tubes back in. I have found the "golden ratio" that Cardas talks about in his website works great in my room as far as speaker placement goes. Done most everything on the hardware side, now need to work on room acoustics. Nivana is close, but not there yet. Keep thinking about the $250 VH Audio v-caps to put in the Toshiba.

    Bikerboy,

Could you elaborate more about the tubes. I am looking to replace the Chinese 12AT7 tubes in my ASL's.

    Thanks,

    Scott

    Hi,
I guess the best way to describe the tubes compared to others is that the detail is better in the cymbals, upper guitar notes and the decay is right. Symblance? is very minimal, only on some recordings. Bass and mid bass is tight deep and as low as any of the other tubes. Imaging is very good almost scary at times. Many times I think that someone has come in the room and said something to me but no one is there. Its just the music. The tubes are called airplane wing because the plate is bent into a airfoil like shape. The IC made with the HQ silver made a big difference in the sound.
Scott- I have many pairs of 12at7 and 12au7 tubes. Let me know what you need and I can let you know if any will work for you.

    Bikerboy,

I am new to the tube thing. I just bought a pair of groove tubes 12AT7 from a guitar shop and put them in and they seem to be a little better in the high end. Just looking for suggestions so I don't buy a handful of tubes I don't like. My gear is not that fancy.

    Thanks

Russ, I never received any tubes. I just figured you got to busy with all the things you do in the audio community. When did you send them?

I think I sent them out, did I? Man, if I didn't, I'll get them out pronto. Speak up!!!!

I was just looking to initially replace the stock Chinese 12AT7 in my ASL mono blocks. I am currently powering my RTA 11t's with the mono blocks now.

    Thanks,
