Well obviously it doesn't have to go through as much if any of a far from perfect conversion process. That's probably why I've always preferred cds that were recorded digitally (less conversion).

But I was pretty blown away today when I got my r2r out of the shop and started using it after 20 years in the closet and playing 20 year old tapes. I don't wanna turn it off. Rock on Lynard Skynard.

I learned a huge $350 lesson though. Have it checked before trying to use it after it's been in the closet. Especially anything with a belt and little did I know that r2r's have belts, duh. The old belt wrapped around the capstan motor pulley and burned it up and it needed the capstan circuit board also.
