Jazz At The Pawnshop

I played this 2 sacd collection several times and I found it to be an excellent recording. I fell in love with what I called a xylephone instrument which Joe told me was a vibraphone.
You could easily tell it was recorded in front of a live audience since you could hear people talking, the clanking of utensils against dishes in between the start of one song to another.
Imaging was quite good & it felt like I was in the audience listening while each musician got a chance to shine with his instrument with each song.
So while this particular type of jazz is really not my preference, it is an excellent recording that highlights the benefits of the high definition SACD. If you are a fan of Jazz musicians jamming, get it!:)
"Cathy,
Sorry to hear you are having speaker problems! Don't forget to share your feelings about the "Jazz at the Pawnshop" recording. I know that you said that you didn't care too much for jazz, but share what you think about the imaging, ambient noise, etc. on that recording. (Start a new thread in the Music section)."

I love it when you can hear little details like you described with utensils, and people talking in the background. I was looking at purchasing this set, and I was kinda hesitant about the age of the recording plus the fact it was live. I figured the quality wouldn't be there. You got me looking again:)
BenPlease. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks

Some of the best recordings were done a long time ago, especially the live ones. My best recorded CDs were originally created in the 1950's and 1960's. For example, I have an amazing live recording of Diahann Carroll produced in the late 50's:

Also, get a hold of some older Nancy Wilson or Etta James and you'll see (urr, hear) what I mean.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

Oh yeah, I also have Jazz at the Pawnshop. I love the recording. I bought the hybrid cd that plays all formats and now I want to get it on vinyl next.

If this is the case I would also recommend Frank Sinatra at the Sands with Count Basie, good stuff. I have the DVD-A and its very enjoyable.
