Hi Guys,

Anyone using a Sunfire TGA-7400 amp? I’m thinking about getting one to power my Polk Rti12 home theater speakers. What I really like about this amp is the watts, size and weight of the unit. Any advice will be appreciated.

kind of overkill in my opinion unless you plan on upgradeing your speaks down the road or your getting a killer deal on the amp.

    Welcome Dreammos.

I don't think that there is any such thing as overkill when it comes to powering speakers.

I have a Sunfire Cinema Grand 5 channel 405wpc amp powering my speakers & am extremely pleased with it. The weight & power factor is just outstanding

You will have that amp powering all of your speakers for years to come through out any other changes you might make to your speakers & other equipment!

You will also rest easy knowing that it will drive ANY speaker you attach to it!

    So go for it.

Holy Alaskan Asparagus roots! That's a lot of money. I assume from their website, it's their top of the line Amp for HT. **** luck! Let me know how ya like it, if ya find one and snag it! That thing would be the last amp you would ever need!

Hit up Audiogon.com and check out their multi-channel amps. You can search by zip code (just enter the first two digits for a wider search) to see what might be available near you.

I saw that TGA 7400 for $3.5K. . . still a LOT of clams. But, there were several other Sunfire's (5 channel) for $1K. Click on multi amps and go to town.

There are several Sunfire CG amps on Audiogon. Well there were but some have sold or have sales pending.

Yeah it's their top of the line model. You really think I would not have to buy another amp if I buy this one. Is it that good?

I would get a 400/7, the last generation model.....They just look sexier to me...Something about Bob Carver signing each one as it leaves........The 7400 just looks too plain for me...I like the finish on the older one too....It would most likely cost less too....

How was your experience with them? What was the condition of the item you bought when you received it? Did you order your unit on line or on the phone? I’m just a little concern since you don’t get a manufacture’s warranty, but have to deal with any warranty issues throught them. Your help would be very much appreciated.

Sorry it took me months to respond Dreammos! I finally got moved and hit the forum again. Anyway I have ordered a ton of stuff at hifitrader including a Sunfire 7200, a Marantz 8500, a Marantz 5100 and I think my Panamax conditioner.

I have bought the extended warranty every time but never needed it so far. Every time the merch has been NIB and perfect condition. They have decent service too.

No, no, no! Now start saving your pennies to get a matching Sunfire Prepro. I just got mine 2 weeks ago. It is another step up the ladder over a receiver & well worth the money!:D
