Vintage McIntosh Amps/LSI15

Just purchased some LSI 15 from George Daniels. Great guy by the way!
Thinking about using them in a home theater room for both 2 channel listening and 5.1 surround. Was going to pick up a basic Denon AV with preouts and run the LSI off the amp. I'm looking at solid state McIntosh amps in the 100-200 watt range. Others have done similar sets ups as I have read.
I am hoping to not spend a ton of money, I also don't want to buy the Denon and be disapointed only to upgrade in short order. Any thoughts?
I am probably looking at $700 to $1000 on the amp and $350 on the Denon.

I have a Denon annnnnddddd I decided I wanted 200 watts a channel. Not going to happen with the Denon sssoooo I use the Denon as a pre pro. I have Adcom GFA-555II running my 3.1's. My Denon is the 4802.

P.S. We tend to migrate to separates to get the power we need. Outlaw could put you in a 7.1 in that range with plenty of power. If 2 channel you will get lots of options but ggggooooo tubes LOL

Are you pleased with the Denon sound used as a preamp? Did it make a big difference when you added the power?
That's a sweet Denon you have. Also a great suggestion on the outlaw. I'll check it out.

Welcome to Club Polk Greg and congrats on the LSi15's! Great speakers! They like lots of power and they are a 4 ohm load. A separate amp is the way to go. The Mac's are great products and a little pricey. The Adcoms are less expensive but not as smooth as the Mac's. Keep your eye on the Flea Market as some nice amps turn up there. Parasound also makes an affordable amp that performs well. Let me suggest around 200-250 wpc would be enough to get the performance from the LSi's that you want.

Thanks Schwarcw, I have seen some 105 to 120 watt amps around but I better look at 200 as a minimum just to be safe.

Greg, What Mac amp are you looking at? A 105-120 watt Mac amp driving your front 2 should be plenty. Mac underrates the power output on all their amps, so you are going to get a real 105-120 watts. Try the AudioKarma Mac site to get an idea of what other people say.

Gordon, Looking at MC-2105 through 2250s, also like the MC-202.
I basically am looking at power output and appearance. If you have any thoughts on these or others you like, or would avoid, I would be interested.
