Newbie question - Surround Speakers not working

I have a Denon 484 amp connected to R30 fronts, a CS200 center and M1 surrounds. I used a digital coaxial cable to connect the DVD to the amp. I can hear ok from the center and the fronts but nothing from the surrounds. The connections are all fine. The set up was done as the manual indicated. Am I missing something?
Thanks.
Thanks.

For some reason I can't download all of your manual (only to page 18). On the preceding pages it tells you how to get into "setup mode". On page 18 it shows that the surround speakers can be set one of three ways (large, small, + none). Make sure they're not set on "none".Be gentle, I'm new to all this...

Pretty quick fix. Sometimes it help to write it out to figure it out.
