Question for those with Harmony remotes

hey all,

I'm thinking of switching from a large, heavy Sony remote to a Harmony 550 or 670..

Can you do custom macros with the Harmony's? For instance, I see "listen to cd" as one of the activities on the Harmony remote..

Can I change this to "Listen to iPod" and create a macro that would change receiver to iPod (as opposed to DVD, tv, game, etc)?

or am i stuck using typical macros that are found on the website for download?

You can customize any activity, and you can re-name them as well.

I have the 520, which is pretty much the same as the 550, it works very well, even my wife loves it.

They are macro driven, but they write the macro's not you. You can name them you can modify them, light years ahead of past remotes if you remember those. Which you needed to learn the remote which you what'd key it in then think about all the steps you needed to make it all work.

Harmony remote you plug in mini usb cord connect to pc logs in Harmony website, you tell it what you got then it makes the macro's needed for what you asked for.

Though this response has absolutely nothing to do with the OP's question, I will bite.

Cursed, why would you not recommend the remote the OP asked about if it does everything he wants and costs half the price of the one you are recommending?
