What Amp do I need?

Ok ok, I know it's misleading... but I am looking for a ROCK solid amp to drive my HT. Of course, I don't have the money to buy one for at about another year, but what the heck :) I figured I'd throw this out here and see if there were any lay-a-way plans going on, or possible deals in the not so distant future. :D

I will be running a 7.1 setup, and want something that will push it to the max, in case I ever step up to the LSi series. I think a five channel amp would do the job, and let the rear's be pushed by my 3805.

So, if anyone is considering an upgrade in the next year or so, and has a solid amp for HT, post it here! Probably in the $1000 range. I want it to be the last one I'll need for 10+ years. :D

Cheers,

David

PS: Also posted this in the Electronic section, so I could get good ideas there too! (For those claiming Deja Vu... all over again)

I assume you are looking for more than a 2 channel amp?

Ya, I think a 5 channel will do the trick. Or possibly Monoblocks... we'll see what breaks loose.

Depending on your budget and if your HT receiver has preamp out:
LSI require power generally recommended 200 watts a channel
1.Front three speaker will need most of the power (don't neglect the center which is your main source oh sound in home theater).
    2. If you have preamp outs. You could go with 2 ch for fronts and a mono or bridged for center.
    3.2 channel the side speakers
4.The 3805 can run the rears

They are one of the sponsors for Audioholics forum, which gives it glowing reviews & think it's great.

But then again, they also think a Beringer pro amp is the 2nd coming as well to add muscle to your system.

But then again, most on there will tell you that separate amplification won't make a bit of difference!

    Just a FYI for you.
