Speaker wiring from amp

How do you hook up amp wiring to the speakers? I have looked everywhere online, and obviously I have no experience in this area. In detail, I would like to know what is required to connect my speakers to my amp, what is the procedure, how do I do it, and what do I need?

Simplest 2 channel (5 channel is similar), just to "get some sound" instructions.
    1. position your speakers in the listening room
    2. measure the length of wire needed to reach each speaker.
    3. buy some speaker wire from your local hi-fi store (minimum 2.5)
    4. expose 1/2 an inch of each wire end.
    5. look behind the speakers and the amp
    6. identify the ports for each speaker. (usually Left / Right )
    7. connect black (amp) to Black (speaker) and Red to Red.
this is important so make sure ++ and --
7.1 instead of black you might have white, at least one color should be the same.
    8. if you have speakers with 2 pairs of wire binding ports, make sure you use the LOWER pair and that the UPPER pair is screwed tight.
    9. try one speaker first.
    10. good luck.

once u get to here some music, look for "advanced (...)" setup options (biwire , bi amping , SW wiring schemes ...)

    some good reading http://www.goodsound.com/howto/2002_03_01.htm

I realize now that I should have specified which application I was using.... Thank you for the post Liordra, however I am attempting to hook up that application in my vehicle. I really appreciate the time you took to type that, I just wasn't clear enough in my question. Sorry for wasting your time.

I am assuming you already know that you need to run a set of RCA cables from the PRE-OUT on your head unit to the corresponding channels on your amp....I am also assuming you have a power cable hooked up from the battery to the amp, and a ground wire ran from the amp to a good grounding point somewhere on the car....You will run speaker wire from the Right channel of the amp to the right speaker, or crossover if you are using a set of components....Same with the left. I hope this answers you question...If you need any more help, let me know.
