Sony/Arista is re-releasing his catalog starting with Eye in the Sky 25th anniversary and I Robot - 30th. I've picked them up for $10/ea. If you're a fan, you're going to be very pleased with what AP did with these. Definitely SDA material. I hadn't heard I Robot in probably 25 years, phenomenal 2 channel mix. He sparked up the highs, excellent 3d presentation, almost sounds like a live production vs. the 70's production sound.

Check it out.

Combo rig:

Onkyo NR1007 pre-pro, Carver TFM 45(fronts), Carver TFM 35 (surrounds)
SDA 1C, CS400i, SDA 2B
PB13Ultra RO
BW Silvers
Oppo BDP-83SE

Seeing as the MFSL versions of his stuff have been going sky-high, this is good news! Where did you get them for $10?

Frys has them for $9.99...however I had to go to 2 stores in town...one stocked EITS the other IR. Amazon's got them too. Per the jacket notes, Parsons and Woolfson got together in 2006 to do the remasters...it shows. Can't wait for Tales of Mystery and Imagination ;^).

That's the one I am waiting for :) That was the very first LP I played on my brand new Magnepan Tympani's driven by Threshold pre/power amps way back when that LP came out. I still remember that experience!

I'll have to check it out, I've been a huge AP fan for years. They were the only group I had the complete collection of on vinyl (until I went cd).

I know I wasn't pleased when they remastered the cd version of "Tales" and added some guitar solo on "The Raven".
My equipment sig felt inadequate and deleted itself.

I'l can't interpret your post, but the re-masters are Redbook CD's.

If you've got the original LP and pickup the CD, let me know what you think. Memory tells me the vocals and strings are now very pronouced vs the platter. Very good remix, but the master isn't as clean as Eye in the Sky.

Just finished listening to the remasters of "Eye" and "Vulture Culture".

I really love the bonus tracks included which are mostly the first attempts at some of the songs, or a song that never made it on the album.

The improvements are remarkable on "Vulture" but not nearly as good on "Eye"
Obviously the 16 track tape wasn't in as good of shape. I also think "Eye" might have been the last of the older equipment at Abbey Road Studios if I remember correctly. The sonics are still somewhat flat on "Eye", especially in the midrange.

I'll get only Tales of Mystery and Imagination(only if it's the original mix, not the remix done by Parsons later). I have all the other albums on CD(I Robot on MFSL aluminum and Friendly Card on HDAD) but the HDADs from Classic Records are the ones to get. I heard the re-masters were remixed for 5.1 high res release though it may never see the light of day.
