Seemed like a good deal at the time...

I was minding my own business at CC and saw a single open box Polk Atrium 65SDI for $89. I knew these thinks go for at least $300 each so I grabbed it. It looks to be in perfect condition, but of course I will need to hook it up and try it.

Anyway, have any of you ever used this speaker as single left + right as it supports (it has two tweeters and can do this)? I was just wondering if this speaker is useless to me alone, or if it works well in dual mode. I will try it out when I have time, just curious if anyone has already.

Z1 Just type the model number into the advanced search box just to the right of the polkaudio at the top of the screen and you will be rewarded with a wealth of information.
I like speakers that are bigger than a small refrigerator but smaller than a big refrigerator:D

I just tried the speaker in 'dual' mode - meaning stereo. It sounds terrific. It's the best sounding outdoor speaker I have ever heard. It reminded me a little of my RTi4s I use as surrounds, only brighter. The bass port gives it a pretty full sound - I was impressed with the bass. I will definitely keep it.

So it seems I have two options. I could track down another Atrium 65 and replace a pair of Yamaha AW350s I have around my pool. I definitely want two speakers there, not just one. Or I can use it by itself in dual mode (stereo in one speaker) in another part of my back yard where my son and I play sports a lot and where we have fires. I do have Onkyo in my basement that supports zone 2 so I could wire that pretty easily... Hmmmm.

Definitely like option one better, pool sound upgrade and can repurpose the Yamahas to the other side of yard and essentially get both options done....but that's gonna cost me some cash.
