Von Schweikert just announced it's brand new center channel - the VisiUN

THE WORLD'S FIRST TRUE "UNIVERSAL" CENTER SPEAKER

The VisiUN Universal Center Channel Speaker will come in two models - the standard version and the Signature version. The standard version is intended to exactly match with our VR-4 SR MK II version speakers, while the Signature version is intended to match with our upper-end VR-5SE, VR-7SE, VR-9SE, VR10 Mk II and VR-11 models.

WHY A UNIVERSAL CENTER CHANNEL SPEAKER:
Both models are Universal Center Speakers designed to be used with both Von Schweikert speakers and other brands as well. The Universal aspect of our center channel employs our unique UTM circuit for optimizing with a wide range of various brands and types of different speakers.

VFR + VP = UTM™

By combining our VFR (Variable Frequency Response) circuits with our VP (Variable Phase) circuits we create Universal Timbre Matching which allows either of the VisiUN Center Speakers to be adjusted to optimally match a wide variety of different brands and types of speakers.

NO CENTER AVAILABLE FROM YOUR MANUFACTURER?
If you currently own a different brand than Von Schweikert speakers but your manufacturer does not make a center channel speaker - the VisiUN solves this problem. By using our Universal Center Channel you can quickly and easily adjust it to Timbre Match your other speakers, it's fast, easy and fully adjustable.

SPECIFICATIONS:
POWER HANDLING: 200 watts rms / 500 watts peak
IMPEDANCE: 4 ohms
FREQ. RESPONSE: 50hz to 20Khz
CONTROLS: HF and Midrange level controls (adjusts to work with any other brand of speakers also).
DIMENSIONS: 28”w x 14”d x 15”h
WEIGHT: 54lbs (74lbs shipping weight)

This is actually of great interest to me as a VSA owner as their existing center ,the LCR15, is great but not up to the excellence of VSA's more expensive offerings - even the relatively affordable VR4 Jr. The retail is $5500.00 and $11,000 for the signature model.

What model of speakers do you have? They are interesting looking....Kind of like the B&W Nautilus...How do they compare?

    She has VR4Jr's.

I was looking through your HT pics - sweet setup, very clean. I was amazed at how small the VR4Jr's are. I have the original VR4M's, and they are HUGE in comparison. No big deal, in real world setting (your pics) they looked smaller than I had always thought.

    Cheers,

Thanks and Yes. They sound big though. I like the idea of a taller speaker and I have to admit I have been reading a lot on the WilsonAudio Maxx 2s:eek: but I really like the Von Schweikert sound.

Those VR-1s look like a steal....I was looking for a set of B&W 805s or lsi-7s, and these throw a monkey wrench into that...I wonder if I can hear them in Nashville...Nevermind...No dealer near Nashville.:(

Maxx? Let me start playing the lotto again. ;)

Similar design still, mine have twin 8's in the bottom chamber, apoderically vented on the rear, 5.25 inch mid, forward firing 1 inch metal dome, rear 3/4 inch firing soft dome (ambient tweeter). The top cab is deceiving, the mid/tweets are concealed - but setup similar to Vandersteen - they are time aligned and 'floating' under the grill - there is a lot of free air space behind the grill. They tip the scales at 150 pounds each, 97lb woofer box, 53lb mid tweet array.

I guess the VR4 evolved into two more refined models, the SR and JR. I dig how real 'virtual reality' really is.... ;)

I would say no contest with the VR 1 s over the LSI7s but I don't know about the B&W. There's a few VR1s on Audiogon.

I own Polk in ceiling speakers. If you want good Polks get the LSI 9s.

Yep, favorite speaker out of the lineup. Big enough to have the depth and full sound to listen without a subwoofer, small enough to easily place (and drive) in most rooms.

The 7 is good, the 9 is a LOT better, imo. The 15 could be great, but the quality of the woofer is the downside (IMO). For all intents and purposes, it's pretty much a PSW202 driver. Actually, a Polk DB series car woofer, on paper, would be a stellar drop in replacement - and should provide a noticeable difference in the low end speed, attack, and response. I plan to try it myself, once I can find a decent pair local.

9's are a little big for the bedroom, maybe a replacement for the Tannoy's upstairs someday.....

The new VS center channel doesn't seem impressive in terms of specs, aesthetics, or component quality to justify the price.
HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50” LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

Roll with the 7's and keep your eyes peeled for a new Polk subwoofer, super tiny, 8 inch driver - it will KNOCK your audio socks off.

This one is a real sleeper, unbelievably musical. Trust me, it will be worth the wait, I don't want to say the model number, or any more details - now that I've signed documents that basically gives Polk the go-ahead to sue my pants off if I talk too much. ;)

    Cheers,

Maybe so..I have noticed that there seems to be some thing fishy going on over at Von Schweikert lately. I can't put my finger on it and maybe it's the new marketing approach but it's something....
