Almost bought LSi15's at Tweeter

I stopped at the Tweeter at Cool Springs Mall (Brentwood / Franklin TN -- suburb south of Nashville). Everything was marked down at least 10% but some things more than that.
They had a pair of LSi15's in the listening room and they were the one's actually playing. I was just about to walk out and I asked one of the sale's guys how much longer they would be open. He said it was supposed to be 8 to 10 weeks and that they would be bringing in some more discontinued product -- it was obvious their stock is getting low. Several of the TV's had "Last One" signs on them. There were several empty spots on the wall where there once was a TV.
The guy said, is there anything in particular you were looking for? I said, well I was kind of hoping to find a good deal on some LSi15's, maybe floor models. He turned to this other guy, who punched in something on the computer, and he said, what would it take for you to buy them tonight? How about $1,200 dollars? I was really tempted. I almost gave in, but finally walked out and said I would have to think about it.
I'm still thinking about it. To bad sales tax here is 9.75%.
Should I do it?

Yea, it was for the floor demos. The guy said that was their last ones. The grill cloth had come loose from around the grill frame on one of them. I know that you can order a new grill from Polk. I should ask them to come down some more because of the grill. Maybe . . .Robert

Yea, I work in Nashville, but live in Murfreesboro. "ledhed" is a college student in Nashville (I think?). Shack lives about 60 miles from me, somewhere down toward Chattanooga, I think. TennesseeOutlaw lives in Jackson, and I have seen quite a few fellow polkies in Kentucky.
We ought to try and have a Polkfest of our own. Call it a Mid-South Polkfest, or something.Robert

Wow! Overcharging for floor models. When my store stopped carrying the LSi25's, we sold them NIB for around a grand a pair... again, NEW IN BOX! I can't remember what we sold the used floor models for but I could've swore it was around $350-400 each. We still have the 15's though so I can only imagine what we'll sell them for if we get rid of that model too.Never kick a fresh **** on a hot day.

I'm in for a Polkfest. I'm in the Memphis metro area, but hope to move back to KY (originally from there) or maybe to Nashville this year. -
I think you can talk them down a little from where they are at. Also if you purchase them, call Polk Customer Service and expain the issue and they will send you some new grills.

A Mid-South PolkFest sounds super funky fresh. I'm in.
Nevermind: Ouch.... I think that's for each speaker. I'm stoooooopid.I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore -

Originally Bremen, KY (western KY/Muhlenberg Co/coal mining country!). Moved to Memphis after graduating from Murray State in 02, and we're ready to get out this dump. My wife & I are looking at Lexington, KY and Nashville primarily, however I have quite a bit of family in Louisville. How do you like Louisville-feel free to PM so we don't butcher this thread... -
FWIW - Im in for a Polkfest in the TN area- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

The store at Cool Springs had a pair of Cherry LSi7's sitting on table with some other marked down items, but I think they were only marked down 10% from retail. I think they had some LSi9's in the listening room, but I don't remember now if they were Cherry or Ebony.

So is the Tweeter store in Nashville going out of business or were things just on sale?
-
Doesn't crutchfield sell the lsi15 for about $1450 a pair with shipping and no tax.
-
Did they have a price on LSIFX?
-
Matt - yes Tweeter is closing all 6 stores in TN, all of them in AL (not sure how many), plus many others throughout the country. I think I read nationwide they are closing about 30% of their stores. Most of the ones in the Northeast (where they are strongest) will remain open.
Kaiser - I did not ask about the LSIFX, but I know they would be on sale for at least 10% normal retail.Robert
