To Mount or Not....

Polkies,

I need opinion on whether to mount or not, of my LCD 40", on the wall. I was thinking of mount when I bought it, but because of not sure what Sanus' mount package I need to get, I have it sit on a Sony matched XBR34" CRT stand. Surprisingly, it seems to be at about the same height with my old CRT that I get used to it after a while. Anyways, for those who has mounted their LCD higher above eye-level, what is it like? Btw, the reason I am thinking higher is because the LCD is in the bedroom, so from laying down in bed, it seems more ergonomics to have it higher above, ergonomically.

Thoughts? Thanks.
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

Check out monoprice.com for mounts. You can get one for $30, and they look rock solid. $30 won't hurt the wallet if you change your mind.

I'm still debating whether to mount mine or not. I've got plaster walls so I'd have to run my wires in a conduit on the wall. Putting holes in 80 year old plaster is never a good thing, as it likes to crack.

I can't think of a good reason to not mount a flat panel on the wall. It'll be a bit more work dealing with the wiring issues, but there's a good thread going on in the basic hook-up/wiring forum about just this.

FWIW, I saw an article that said something like 75% of flat panel purchases were made by women, just for decorating purposes. I know the only reason we have our 50" plasma is because Mrs Rat said, " we ARE getting one, and HANGING it on the wall".

I think it had something to do with keeping up with the Jonses (Clay's in this case)

    Do it to it, broham!

The top of my plasma is a just a skoshe higher than my SRS's and it seems pretty good. No fatigue, at least in the neck and head, during extended watching sessions. The only downside is that the SRS's do cut down on the side viewing angle a bit, but 95% of the time there are only folks watching on the couch, not the loveseat.
