Need Help!

I recently purchased a Yamaha HTR 5990 receiver. The impedance levels are rated at 6-8ohms. Will this be a problem if I plan to later drive the Rti12 or the Lsi series?
I know the gurus say to keep the impedance at 8 ohms but I am just worried that the HTR 5990 might just shutdown because of over heating.
Any expert advise?

Thx.

I think you'd be okay with the Rti12's, but I don't think you'd be giving enough to the Lsi's, as well as running the risk of driving the receiver too hrd with the 4 ohm impedence.

I have a 5990 and I'm nearly 100% sure that there is a selector somewhere in there for 4 ohm speakers.

However, RTi12s will not be properly driven by that receiver. Please consider separate amplification for the 12s.

Could you recommend any good high current amplifiers to use?
I am also looking at the Lsi25 pair.
Can I use my HTR 5990 (6 to 8 ohms) with a hiigh current amplifier to drive the Lsi25?
I am seriously thinking of returning the HTR 5990 but which receiver out there is good enough to drive the Lsi25 on its own with no amplifier help.

    Thx.

The standard answer is a 200 watt and above a channel amp. Adcom,Sunfire,Rotel,Outlaw Audio, and Carver are a few good amps. You need to decide weather you want mono blocks,2 channel or multi channel amps.

What engtaz said. Yes, you can use the 5990, but if you are getting into higher end audio, in the end you might be sorry you kept the 5990, as you won't want to use the internal amps and you'll feel that you wasted money. If I had a do-over on this one, I'd have returned mine (BUT IT IS A VERY GOOD AVR) in favor of a dedicated pre/pro.

BUT, if you're not ready to pull the plug on separate amps, and you want to do it in phases, keep the AVR and run separates, as you acquire them, from the pre-amp outputs on your AVR. You'll bypass the internal amps that way (and be very happy)
