My Yami sucked and I replaced it with an HK AVR-235. The Yami was 110*6, and HK is 65*7. The HK is much better than the Yami. Also you can use the HK as a pre amp.
As for Denon vs Marantz I have no idea.
    Happy hunting

Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

My Yamaha's [amps] always sounded as if a blanket were put on top of the speakers. Their version of "natural sound" wasn't natural to me. I would look at the Marantz, or others. My 2Cents................

To me it is a toss up. Their are people on both sides of the fence. I chose mine by comparing cost and feature (watts, optical inputs, video inputs). You can't go wrong with either Denon or Marantz.

    Good Luck

Well, consider that Denon and Marantz are owned by the same company. Look at their offerings and in general, it appears that Denon is considered the higher quality brand.

In my experience, Denon is a notch above both Marantz and H-K. Most of the Denons (except maybe the lowest models) are still made in Japan, while nearly all of Marantz and HK are made in China. When you compare them side by side, the quality of the build comes out.
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

JimBrick - I know the feeling of small town and trust me, I have no where to purchase except on-line. Then again I could have went the HK, Denon or Marantz route and did in the beginning. Depending on the $ you are looking to spend you may want to kick it up a notch. Good Luck.
