Here is an old link to replacement woofers for the Amazings for $25 each a couple years ago. The link still works and I would assume these are the only real OEM replacement option.http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29646

They are certainly worth looking into, regardless of the woofer issue but I hope you can actually listen to them. The woofers are simple but the ribbons aren't cheap.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

You can come over to my place if you want to know what they sound like. The seller is unable to demo them.

Three of the woofers are Carver's, the top one is not. If the ribbons work, they are a steal.

It looks like there is an extra one of that top driver on the floor to the right of the one speaker. perhaps he is replacing the orginals with those? REGARDS SNOW
Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

If 3 of those are Carver woofers, then why the hell do mine look entirely different?

Were the silvery honeycomb flat woofers not introduced until the Platinum model?

I got an email back from him. He's getting lots of requests for them. He jacked the price up to $650.

No, the honeycomb woofers were in the original Amazings, some of which were converted via an upgrade kit to the 60" ribbons, yet retained the original woofers.

Edit: At $650.00 they are no bargain.

So, Zingo, did you end up seeing them or getting them?

Well I e-mailed the guy...then he e-mailed me back and told me to call him...so I called him with no reply then e-mailed him back...and have not gotten a reply yet. I am going to call him tomorrow and see what's up. He edit his original ad to say that they are "Carver's" and, like ya'll said upped the price to $650 but I will $350 for them if anything. If he still has them I will take an amp over and test them out. We'll see what happens...

HI Zingo, newbie here to forum.I had a friend that bought the carver amazings years ago.You need a ton of power to run these at decent audio levels. He had a
Kenwood basic 2 amp 250 wpc amp and wasnt happy.Tried a carver amp with same results. They were a sweet speaker at lower listening levels but definately not a rock n roll speaker to play loud.Depends on what your listening habits are.

Bullcrap. You're right in that they need a ton of power, but if you had a decent amp behind them, they rock like no other.

I've had my house literally shaking at times with the lights dimming from all the power being drawn during bass notes. Most rockingist speaker I've ever owned.

I agree, the speaker can most certainly rock some high SPL.

Led Zepplin, "Gallows Pole," rocked me nauseous on Antny's Amazings. The kick drum made my spine rattle.
