Looks like I'll be picking this one up on HD-DVD today. Wanted to get it on Blu-Ray to save a few bucks but after ready the reviews between the two formats, HD-DVD it will be. Both audio and video got a score off 100 on HD-DVD and on Blu-Ray, video got a 100 and audio got a 89. I sure wish Blu-Ray would get there act together as far as these new audio formats and being able to decode them.

fella, I haven't seen the movie but my son, who has watch it thought it was good. Is this movie warrant a buy on HD-DVD as opposed to regular? just curious...
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

Going to be a blind buy for me on HD DVD. polkatese, I'm pretty sure this is a combo so your son could play it on a regular dvd player too. The reviews have been really good so far, so why not?

Just wanted to clear something up about decoding. It's only Warner titles that seem to release the exact same video codec but then seems to omit the audio codec when they have it already done for HD-DVD. Maybe there's still some HD-DVD supporters at the studio mucking around with the neutrality, who knows?

It's Java functionality that BR needs to get together so that studios like Warner can use their PIP features on their BR releases. The basic stuff like audio and video codecs are fine.

That said, I'd rather get the TrueHD release too if I had a choice. It's supposed to be much better on the low end.

Well, the family and I watched this last night in HD-DVD and all I can say is WOW. Both video and the audio transfer of this movie were breath taking. The part of the movie where the penguins were sliding down the mountain like a roller coaster, all I could here were my kids gasping for air and there were moving from side to side like they were on a roller coaster. This is definatley one of the first movies I'm reaching for as a demo.
