Hi everyone, okay I am building a dedicated ht in my basement, 12 ft wide by 14 ft long, and seating will be 12 ft back from 92" screen, two feet from the back wall, and I am thinking of going with a pair of RTi8s up front, a CSi5 center, and a pair of FXi3 surrounds with a psw404 sub. Would this work in this size room? Will I be getting the best bang for my buck, as my funds are limited. I want to keep it under $2700. I am going with a 92" front projection system with a Infocus 76 projector. The receiver will be a Denon 2807 or 2808. Please if anyone has any advice at all, let me know. Thanks everyone.

    Nice equipment.

Although polk recommends the 404 with that speaker setup, you can get more bang for the buck. Check out SVSound.

I think your planned setup is at a good price/performance level. Based on how much I am willing to spend I settled in a similar place and am satisfied. I auditioned a lot of speakers and I think the RTi line is very good for the money. The room size is fine for those speakers/receiver. My family room is 13'x23' and I have no problem whatsoever driving a similar setup even with a less powerful Denon and no amp.

I agree with others who have chimed in... Polk subs are currently not on par with the rest of the Polk lineup. I think the SVS is only a little more expensive than the PSW404 (maybe $150 or so?). Good luck.

    Center: Polk CSi5

    Hi
I have a similar room 13 x 15. I'm struggling on what to choose. In my opinion I feet that the RTi8 and the CSI 5 might be a bit too much for that size room, considering you are on a budget. Listen to the rti6's. Theyre pretty good and HALF the price of the 8's. Also, if you choose to drop to the 6, consider matching it with the CSI3 which is similar size/characteristics as the 6's and the FX3's.

As for the sub...I agree. Drop the 404 and go with the SVS PB10. I'm ordering that one on advice too. PB12 is too much for that size rm

    My 2 cents

I agree. It's better to be able to turn down the sub than to replace it or buy a second.
