Sound insulation for ceiling

The ceiling in the New Woodshed is presently drywall nailed to the floor joists above, actually there are the joists then a sub floor above the existing drywall ceiling. I need to keep the sound from traveling up through this and disturbing the Mrs. in our bedroom. What are the thoughts on ways to do this?

Thanks.

Any technique that would work on a wall, should work as a ceiling also. The sound waves hit the ceiling vibration the floor joists supporting the ceiling and floor. So what I'm thinking (not 100% sure myself) is that you would need to make another ceiling yuk, but this one an inch or so lower then the first one. Removing the first ceiling add insulation to deaden the sound a little couldn't hurt either.

You can purchase soundproofing insulation and it would work just fine in between the joists.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.
