Help setting up Denon 3910 please

Ok, let me try to get help again on this topic. First of all, yes, I AM reading the manual to the 3910, albeit sporadically due to my busy schedule.
Yes, I suppose I could go to the AVS forum, but I prefer THIS forum.
Yes, I could experiment, and I did, but I"m getting nowhere and getting blue in the face, and I don't have much time on my hands. I'd rather be listening than spending an ungodly amount of time trying to make it work.
So....I replaced my Panansonic S77 with the Denon 3910. The S77 was working fine. The pre-pro is an Emotiva LMC 1. Everything seems to be hooked up correctly, I"ve got the toslink for audio and component for video.
The picture is fine, but I get no dialogue from the movie. Can someone please tell me what the typical settings are in the menu for the Denon 3910? I'll be monitoring your responses and I'll have a go at it again on Saturday night. Next week I have some guests and I'd like to at least watch a movie with ALL the sound and dialogue.....I suppose I could activate the subtitles, but that would generally suck.

When I got my new DVD player I did not get any sound. I had to enable digital audio out in the DVD's menu system when I used the optical out.
You probably already did it, but do you have the audio digital out enabled in the Denon's menu??Receiver: harmankardon AVR235
Mains: polk R30
Center: polk CSi3
Rear Surrounds: polk R20
Subwoofer: polk PSW404
DVD: Panasonic DVD-S29 -
Are you using the same A/V inputs into your system? If so, try going thru the onscreen setup to select audio output. If you are not using the same inputs into you system then you need to change your system setup to select your change in your audio input.
Good Luck,

I hope I don't have his problem! In about an hour I'm buying a Denon AVR887 to replace my Onkyo with and I've heard that the manual isn't "that friendly".Be gentle, I'm new to all this...

Denon AVR's just set audio input to auto if you can't get it working or do the step method by watching the video then stepping thru the audio input. Just remember the video inputs are not chargeable but audio is.

1. Easiest is the on screen setup. My unit would only work on s-video. Just write down which video goes with each audio. The red white (analog) audio is directly related to the video. Digital audio is selectable.
2. Yes,spell check doesn't catch everything. Ha Ha
