NAD C272 vs HALO A23

I have a chance to trade my HALO A23 for a NAD C272 New. What would you do? The catch is, I can't listen to the NAD to see if I like it better than the HALO.

    I have a NAD C270. I've heard the HALO. I'm not sure there will be much difference in sound quality. The NAD is 150 wpc @ 8ohms vs HALO's 125 wpc @ 8ohms. HALO is a John Curl design (which has value for some). HALO is silver and NAD is grey. New vs used. Both are good.

    I would probably swap because of the higher power and a brand new amp. If you don't like it...sell it. You would be out very little...if any.

    Edit: Does the Parasound HALO run a little warm? I've heard that complaint from time to time. The NAD amps tend to run very cool if that has any importance to you.

    The Parasound does run a little warm. Ironically, I think it runs cooler at 4ohms with my LSi15s as opposed to the Rti8s. I don't know how to account for that. Maybe its just more comfortable running the Bad Boys. Who knows. What does the NAD rate at 4ohms?

    I don't understand . . . The Nad is rated 150 X 2 @ 8/4 ohms continuous power, but 220 @ 8ohms and 340 @ 4ohms IHF Dynamic Power. Does this mean the NAD is stronger or weaker than the HALO?

    It means that 150 wpc is available at all times continuously with both channels driven and dynamic is simply NAD's term for peak or spikes that could be delivered in short bursts.

    Across the board the NAD power specs are a little higher than the Parasound.

    As I said earlier...in real world terms...they are probably very similar. It comes down to aesthetics and if you want something newer or just want to try something different.
