Just posted on another forum by a buddy of mine........

"I stopped by our local Sound Advice today, and to my surprise, they are CLOSING.
The entire store (what's left of it) is all 40-70% off...

There are about 20-30 sets of Polk speakers, a bunch of Martin Logan subs, odds and ends, and a bunch of Klipsch speakers.
    "

    He lives in Florida, FYI.

From what I gathered at the Tweeter website, it appears that Tweeter, Sound Advice, Showcase and HiFi Buys are all either the same company or all the same liquidator.

    A review from someone:

In conclusion, the Denon AVR-988 has some serious flaws, is very very hard to set up, and while Denon is easy to reach, their customer support is useless other then to help you with basic set up problems. My advice is to stay away from this unit. FAR AWAY.

Is that the general consensu on the reviews for that unit? Or just one persons?

I read a number, 30, of reviews on Amazon and many, 3 or 4 had units that were DOA and about 3 or 4 that found the unit very difficult to program.

Just look at the back of the unit. It is very dense.

I had a Sony reciever way back when that was so complicated that I hated it. I will never buy a Sony HT receiver again.

    The price is low however.

I wouldn't say that this is the concensus.....most of the people had very good reviews and there seem to be a couple of the returns that were more related to someone not reading the manual and setting it up incorrectly rather than the product being defective. By the way, there were only 21 reviews (not 30) and the 988 has an average rating of 4 1/2 stars, so I'd say it's pretty well received, at least from the Amazon purchasers.
