Thats a nice salamander and at a great price. We also have a triple wide but with the black anodized framing. It is extremely sturdy and versatile. You'd need a he'll of a friend to pick it up for you, totally disassemble it, and pack it for shipment. Just saying.

Yeah I know lol... But let me dream

Where do you house your gear now Enders?

A Bello rack which is bending in the middle due to how it's built. It's not as nice and I don't have locks on the doors.

Salamander is one we want but at 1600 is out of my price range for a rack.

I feel your pain. I've got a B&K that close to 90 lbs and I needed a sturdy rack to house it. No regrets with the salamander.

    I have a 87lb B&K, a 30 lb sub amp, and a 30 lb AVR.

Deal? No. I simply don't get those kinds of prices for vintage pieces, especially without any checkups.

Yet there they are. $$$$. The big guns at 120-160 watts bring top dollar.
There comes a point where you go for a modern amp/preamp.
My favorite phrase is "serviced". That to me means more than wiping off
the dirt and blowing out the dust. I saw a Mac 1700 that was nasty dirty
and the top grate was pushed in. $900 was the asking price.
    I walked.

Oh man, that is part of my problem right now with adding an amp. The rack that I have (Same as your old one) is just not tall enough to put the AVR in it with room to breath. Its on the floor for now and unattractive. As much as I want an amp having another huge thing on the floor just will not work with my small space. (Still looking to buy a larger house.)

In the end I just may make a custom rack using Aluminum Extrusion off ebay and hardwood boards purchased local.

I listened to a pair a few years back and they were just awesome. Picky to set up but I think they were the best I've heard.

LOL right!!! I used to have that kind of room. Actually I did talk to the wife and we are considering moving. Before I got married again, and I was single or just dating for 10+ years, I had the full use of the 28X32 basement. After getting married I had to convert it into bedrooms.

So I have been chasing my tail trying to get that sound back ever since.

    No replacement for displacement.

Hard to get that big sound from smallish speakers.

Sell the CD player and cables and keep at least the pre-amp and amp, if you dont like the speakers, sell them and you can probably be out very little if any for a REALLY nice amp and preamp......
