Do you think Sony will provide me with a factory warranty?

I was browsing in a small TV/stereo store yesterday when I came across the Sony Scenario S7 system. Apparently, the owner of the store has some NOS units in stock. I checked out the integrated amp and since the owner give me a good price, I went for it.

Given the age of the amp, will Sony still be obligated to provide me with a factory warranty? It was purchased as "new" and I have receipt.

Just in case you wanted to know, each of the source component's asking price was $99.00 :D

Sony is actually pretty reasonable as long as you have a sales receipt for proof of purchase. I emailed them about a broken Sony DVP-S9000ES I was watching on on eBay. They said if it was under warranty (I had to provide proof of purchase of it new within warranty period) they would fix it up no prob. Owner didn't have receipt, so I didn't bid.

Anyway, these are 10+ years old so I doubt they would do anything for you. But, if they are in "new" condition, it would seem to be a pretty good deal for $100 a piece, regardless of warranty. You will most likely resell it or get bored before they break.

    There's one on ebay right now....asking price is $250.00, I believe. The amp is quite well-equipped....phono pre-amp for MM/MC, 70 watts/ channel, pre-outs/main-in (I think), etc.

I am trying to confirm the warranty with Sony right now. The store owner gave me a 90 day warranty on the amp.

OK, I finally opened the box. I took out the owner's manual....kind of strange to see the AA batteries for the remote still sealed. I then look at the warranty card....apparently, this amp is considered an ES-series component and therefore the warranty is 3 years!!

Inside the owner's manual, it mentioned that this amp has a "Spontanteous Twin Drive" power circuit and "Super Legato Linear System" power amp. I recognize these terms from 80s Sony ES amps.

I think I will contact Sony again.
