Subwoofer hookup problems

I having trouble getting my subwoofer to work right. I tried hooking it up on the dedicated subwoofer channel and do not get any sound. But i hooked it up to the front pre out and got sound. I have a denon avr-1907 and a velodyne dps 12 powered sub. can ne one help me out.

    Since, it looks like you are running stereo, your mains are likely set to "LARGE", thus no output through LFE unless there's a dedicated .1 info from your source.

    Go into the menu on the receiver and the DVD player and make sure both are set up to utilize the sub or LFE or .1 ....whatever you want to call it.:) Make sure the speaker size,crossover is set correctly and...um....make sure you have it connected to the receiver correctly also.

    here maybe this will help its a picture of the back of the reciever.

    do i need a y cable to go from the sub preout on my reciever to the two ins on my subwoofer.

    because on the preout it says subwoofer under the red jack the white jack above it says center.

    go from the SUB out, and into the SUB red or white, you can use a splitter on the sub if you want to , but it is not required. You can search the forum and get info on the use of splitter, you may or may not recognize the gains from it.

    check the menu settings in your Denon and see if the subwoofer output is turned on.. and listen to a movie in dolby digital.. and make sure your front speakers are set to small.

    but wont that affect my subwoofer during 2 channel stereo mode.

    Most Denon's allow sub to work with stereo speakers.

    ok i got it fixed o think i went through the speaker setup and stuff and after adjustments the system sounds better clearer and it seems like my sub is reproduceing all the bass
