Hey all,

I'm new to Club Polk, just signed up today. I had previously called Polk in regards to buying new SL 1000 tweeters for my 5jr's I just got the 5jr's from a thrift store for $15 (for the pair). However, they apparently were abused because one fuse was blown, and both tweeters are damaged. The speakers sound GREAT, and they are my first pair of Polks. However, it would be ever so much nicer to have clean, clear highs w/o having to pay $50 each for new ones from the factory. I am a little nervous about buying from someone on the board, due to the fact that I just read the whole thread about wang-whats-his-face burning those people. However, if the price is right, I'd definately be interested. I may still decide to just get new ones, though. Thanks!

He's the only one you need to stay away from...haven't seen any of those tweets for sale, but maybe someone has a few hidden away. Of course $115.00 invested still isn't bad.

    Welcome......what else you got?

I'm assuming you mean in my system... :-D

    1 pr 5jr
1 pr MA-3DX (waiting on replacement 8" woofers due in tomorrow)
1 Sharp CD player... picked up for $10, works fine for me :-)
1 RCA 10 Band Graphic Equalizer
    1 Sharp RT-12 Tape Deck
    1 JVC RX-558V Audio/Video Control Receiver

I don't use the CD player or the tape deck much. I'm more into ripping all of my CDs to high bitrate MP3's and playing them through the computer. I've found no degrading sound quality by compressing them, as I use 256kbps bitrate. The CD and Tape are just nice to have around once and a while. In my basement I have a Pioneer SX-450 hooked up to my speaker box (which is waiting to go into a vehicle). The speaker box consists of:

    2 Pioneer 12" 450w IMPP woofers
    2 Pioneer 6 1/2" 100w Midranges
    and
    2 Optimus 3 1/2" 100w ferro-fluid cooler tweeter

all the signals in the box are sorted out by 2 three channel crossovers. Sure, the Pioneer has to work a little hard if I turn it up, but I don't use it that often, just when I'm down working w/ my other hobby, which is R/C cars.
